For many decades, people wore the smaller Calatravas on their wrist. Today most people prefer a larger Calatrava.

The WG 3919 is not as common as the YG.

Any answer is essentially relative to the times. For today, yes, I think 33mm is too small.

There's the successor 5119 which is 36mm, which may play better. And of course there's the 5196 at 37mm (which wears notably larger than it's size would indicate). Finally there's the new 6119 at 39mm.

There was a time when that 33mm size was just right. There was even a time when 30mm was totally OK as well (look at some of the old 96 references like 3796).

That 3919 today is not intended to be "new and contemporary and fresh". It's intended to be "vintage and timeless and classic". Whether that's good or not is up to you. If you like it and enjoy it, then by definition it's good. Cheers.

Too small in what sense? If it is comfortable and you like it who cares what others think? Looks great to me, would also look great smaller or larger.

Small, but not too small I think.

I have not ventured smaller than a 34mm 3998P myself with 6.6" wrists.

appreciate the responses. agree it is a bit small for current times. it is a classic and in many ways epitomizes patek. i have had it a long time so it won't leave the collection. my wife wants to wear it so that's where it is headed. excuse to add a watch, haha.

I think it looks good. From the responses below, case size preference is personal and it only matters how you perceive the size, fit, and feel of a particular timepiece.

i don't believe the 3919 looks too small on you, the thiness of the watch plus the layout of the dial gives the allure of a watch that is much larger than the 34mm case.
i have almost the same wrist size as you and for years enjoyed my 3919J. it is no longer in my collection unfortunately
