5205r VS 5396r?

Hello everyone, I would like to here your opinion regarding annual calendar timepieces 5205r and 5396r. Which one would be your choice and why?

Also, as far as i know, neither of them come with deployment buckle with Patek logo. Would you order it separately with additional strap or just keep it with standard tang buckle (more secure but less beautiful imho)? Thank you;)

5396r to me is preferable with the more classical throwback to classic PCs like the 3448.

I find the case of the 5205r much more interesting, but both dials are great in their own way. The deployant balances out the heft of the case (though this is more relevant with the 5905) better and also looks beautiful, so it’s a worthwhile purchase in my eyes.

I would agree - the simplicity of the dial has great impact on me (specially the blue one).

Cheers,

My 5396R had deployant. It's a beautiful watch but I ended up trading for an AP ROC (plus cash my way at the time, I wouldn't get that deal now!)

I love the blue dial with baguette of 5396R-015.

Last week I saw this one on WatchRecon brand new for $50K, I think it was the best deal ever.

The company seems legit, so I try to wire money to him but the bank warned me twice, finally it was too late, somebody else got it.

I missed the best deal.

My 5396R came with a deployment...

I absolutely love the watch in particular the DNA is shares in appearance with its earlier PC predecessors. Stunning timepiece....

WatchRecon is the website that combine all the watches for sell from all other websites. It is convenient for buyer to search.

5396R is beautiful and in all likelihood i get it. But the blue in it, IMHO is not as beautiful as the mesmerizing blue in 5205G.

Initially I wanted 5205R but after seeing it next to 5205G and 5396R, the choice was clear for me.

Between your two considerations, 5205R is more interesting but you should still get 5396R.

5205R if you are looking for something that is dressy with a modern flare.

5236R if you are looking for a classic dress piece with a vintage lineage.

Ones a future classic while the other is already one.

I went for that one too but it sold out soo quick. I saw another seller selling it for about 48k but it looks slightly used. Think its still worth it?

If you can buy at that price lightly used. I personally think it's worth it. The watch is killer but certainly not some investment watch.... ACs in general Patek or not have soft resale in general. So I'd jump if I really like the watch. You're not getting any real discount via dealers these days.

Did you know the seller (Perpetualman88) well?

Is he a trusted seller? His price seems to be very reasonable.

Thanks in advance for info.

I don't know him personally but his office is in Los Angeles where I am so I could have easily just swung by and picked it up. I did talk to him on the phone and he seemed like a reasonable guy.

I love my 5396g-014. I paid msrp from an AD while on vacation. Didn’t think I would like it until I tried it on, but damn! It’s gorgeous. Not concerned about resale since I’m passing it to my son

seems like i'm the only one here who finds 5396R blue dial, and/or 5396G more modern than the 5205G or 5205R.

All the four gorgeous.

Nah you’re not the only one. I feel they look way more modern.

What are your thoughts on the readability of the date windows between the two? To me, while absolutely gorgeous, the in-line date windows on the 5236 would be impossible for me to read with my eyesight. The 5396 isn’t in-line but the 5205 looks like it would be easier to read?

to me, about the same...perhaps 5205 is quicker, easier to read...

All of them are easy to read but 5205 is the easiest one.
