5167 as a daily watch?

Hey guys.

I've only had Rolex in my 15 years of collecting, a couple of years ago my AD asked me when it was time for a patek, and I said not yet. Last time I was there I said to him that I was "patek ready" and he asked which patek I was interested in and I said an Aquanaut 5167, he said next time I was there he will have one for me.

But now my thought is being a rolex guy for a long time. How durable is it for daily wear? And what about service? Those of you who had one for a long time, how many times have it been to service?

/Soren

This question has been very polemic in the past… and I firmly stand on that it’s THE best daily ever made.

Period!

Try to get it on the bracelet. You can then buy the rubber strap and clasp from Tracy.

I agree. If I had to pick one watch for the rest of my life under 30k it would probably be the Patek 5167, what an amazing watch.

Not had an Aquanaut, but had no problems wearing my 5990 as a daily. The only difference between my 5990 and my Rolex watches is that I don’t play golf wearing the Patek. But for everything else, no difference.

However, I don’t really care about scratches, you cannot wear a Nautilus or Aquanaut as a daily if you care about scratches.

Fellow Dane here?

The Aquanaut is by far the most comfortable watch you’ll ever wear. Wore mine everyday more or less, two years straight, but eventually sold it to fund a Nautilus. I have every intention though, of getting one again. Only this time a 5164 but would happily wear a 5167 again.

For an every day watch, I’m tempted to say it’s perfect. Sorely miss mine.

Correct fellow Dane.

My AD said the nautilus and 5164 travel time would be a thing for my 40th birthday only 6 years from now. Haha.

My BLNR will do as a GMT until then.

But sounds great all of you says it is the perfect Daily watch!

Yes.

Suit or shorts, beach or office. Perfect daily.

With me for almost 7 years.

New poster here but the 5167 (on the strap) is my daily driver. I wanted a Patek I wouldn't be afraid to wear all the time and it's probably the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. Helps save wear and tear on the others lol!

Of course, the discussion about price/availability is a whole different discussion!

Never liked scratch magnets watches for a daily but if you don’t care about scratching the bezel and when you take pictures of the watch get the right angle to hide them , then I see no problem with being your daily.

Enjoy

If you don't mind scratches, it'd make an outstanding daily driver!

he already said he doesn't care about scratches. and how is it even relevant to caution someone about scratches with a daily. they go hand in hand.

Having owned a 5164a, it's something worth mentioning to anyone considering an aquanaut or nautilus. If you've experienced one for an extended period, I'm sure you know why.

Some people care more about these things and it's relevant as all watch related nuance is in a watch forum.

The steel Aquanauts are perfect watches for daily use. I sold all my Rolex for my first Patek. It is a 5164A. I never regret anything and never want a Rolex again.
I wear my 5164 all day long, even sometimes when working in the garden. In holidays, when riding bike, at work, with sneakers and shorts as well as to a suit and tie.

I highly recommend an Aquanaut for use at all times and situations. :-)

-> Just be not afraid of scratches and other signs of wear. These can be charming.

Nice combo.

Easy daily for many but not for me, my wrist swells so the strap is a problem so I prefer adjustability, if they intro a quick change then they can keep this style or just have a new flexible clasp.

Fellow Dane here as well!

You can definitely use it as a daily, but for some the lack of adjustment is an issue. I wear mine slightly looser than my other watches, and when it gets hot it fits just a little tight. It's always comfortable though because the rubber is just flexible enough to not squeeze your arm when it's tight.

And as the others have said it fits with everything from t-shirts and shorts to suit and tie!

I agree with all the above! Aquanaut is the best daily wearer. I wear it to sleep sometimes haha.

For me it's the 5968A if I had to have a 'one and only', but the 5167a close second.

It's made to be a daily.

Only thing it can't do is go out on the golf course.

Regardless whether is on bracelet or rubber it's a great daily timepiece......

As watchtabs mention get the bracelet version so you could have the options to be able to switch around, bracelet or rubber... That what make the 5167 so great.....

The 5167 is thin, its super comfortable and looks sharp. If you can get youre hands on one, get it. You wont regret it.

Absolutely great daily wearer. I’ve done it with a 5167/1A (lots of bracelet scratches but also switched to the rubber) and now a 5167R. It gets more wrist time than the 5712/1A for me because of the casual look and great legibility.
