5712 availability

Would the 5712 steel be available at AD or on waiting list? How long? Thanks

I’ve been on the search for one and they are definitely not available to immediately purchase ... far from it... it’s even difficult for me to get on “waiting lists”.. would need some history and relationship with the AD

I think you’d be lucky to be on the waiting list :)

Not very available. Consider yourself fortunate if you find one without spending a fortune at your AD.

I just picked up a 5712 but still haven’t worn it - still debating if I should take advantage of the current nautilus craze to flip and use the extra to help get my ultimate grail the 5131R.

I’ll buy it for the right price. You don’t even need to list it

I’m sure your Patek dealer would be thrilled with this plan.

It's not ideal but flipping to get a more expensive complicated Patek is far more preferable to just for money.

Agree don’t think my dealer would be proud but at the same time would be more understanding than just flipping for $$$

I would only buy a $30k plus watch at an AD. With my name on papers.

Maybe it’s the conspiracy theorist in me.

Has anyone ever been offered an "order" of a 5712 from an AD only to have their deposit returned? I was lucky enough to develop a relationship with an AD who was kind enough to out an order in for me and I wanted to understand if there is a possibility that the order is nullified.

If Patek decides they don’t want you to have an allocated piece it can surely happen. Whether or not they are treating the 5712 this was I don’t know.

What makes you think your Patek dealer is going to sell you something new when you’ve just resold a very difficult watch to get that your dealer kindly got for you? I wouldn’t expect mine to, but I buy watches because I enjoy them, not because I want to be in the watch business.

How would he know, unless he has you on a leash? And using a premium to move up the watch ladder is completely different to being in the watch or profit business.

The new purchaser may check the AD for authenticity. Happened to me before. I guess if the AD knows you going to flip it then he msy be ok and this is a reward for previous business. Otherwise he should just sell to a grey dealer and then let everyone wonder where the watches are.....my UK AD would def not be impressed as there is a queue of people behind me that are equally deserving in the AD's eyes

If you got money for the whiskey, you have money for the ice.

I would agree if the 5131R could be ordered and the AD could deliver but in this case it will be a used piece (no longer current) and therefore not from the AD - it is profit taking clear and simple and the AD is likely to be very unimpressed and will catch a cold from PP.
I would support anyone who gets a piece without being able to try it and then on wearing it for a reasonable period decides it simply isn’t for them - but not wearing it and selling it at a profit, NO.

If you are flipping for your grail as that member is then you are probably at the end of your buying road so you can forget about the damn ADs, honestly keeping them happy seems to be more important now than keeping the missus so. Get out of this rat race if you can, I say.
