One other consideration - if you like to change straps often, the lug holes on the 14060 are going to save you a ton of frustration. Even with the damned expensive Bergeon 7825 I just bought, it’s a PITA to change straps on the 114060.

Having owned the 114060, I have to go with the 14060. The ND was meant to be a 2 liner with a slim case. With the maxi case and ceramic bezel, it just does not look right. IMO, 5 digit references the ND looks better than the date but for 6 digit references, the date looks much better than the ND.

I feel 5-digit submariner is the best combination of sports and dressy. 6-digit ones are way more attention seeking. Rolex knows and wants it that way to make most of their customers happy.

If possible, keep one each in the collection.

Got the 114060 first.

Then moved it to get the 14060M

Me personally, I prefer the 5 digit shape over the 6 digits but couldn’t live with the old bracelet/clasp. Solution for me was a SD4K.

All depends on what’s important to you though

Yep, this is the biggest turn off for me when looking at 5 digits

The 14060 is a classic with modern movement and nicer proportions. I have it clear. 14060

I have both and have had around 3 of each in the past (it's my favourite reference) if I had to choose one it would probably be 14060

14060.

Lug Holes. Case is better proportioned. No need to pay a premium for a ceramic bezel when aluminum works just as well (and is cheaper to replace). Actually do like the stamped steel bracelet. Ultimately, to me, the 14060 has more character than its contemporary counterpart.

Modern Rolex is light years more fitting to their price.

This - And:
I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer the stamped clasp and lighter bracelet on the 14060M. While the Glidelock is superior, to me the 114060 felt too heavy overall, much like my old Seamaster.

I had the 14060M and now have the 114060. The 14060M is great—however, NO ONE onTRF mentions the greatest weakness of the 14060m; it is the most reflective Rolex I’ve ever owned. ( and I’ve owned many Rolex models) Like a mirror due to the lack of A/ R combined with the thinness of the crystal; it makes the watch face look cloudy with extreme glare at certain angles. Looks like a faceless watch at times. Of course, every Rolex model lacks A/R but the 14060M takes the cake in terms
Of glare.

14060 for me, when the ceramic models came out i went to see one in the flesh because i considered the move but i just didnt like the way it looked in the flesh, too bulky and blingy for my liking. Both great watches and you cant really go wrong, its just a matter of taste.

I have both, a 14060M two liner and a 114060 and I love them both, but if I had to give up one it would be the 114060.

That tuna can clasp was the standard for the king of tool watches ...before it modernized to become the King of Bling ..... :)

I like the advantages of the 6 digit bracelet and clasp. As for the case the 5 digit wins but overall I would go for the modern 6 digit Sub no date.

I was looking for a 14060 but then someone offered me a 114060 at a ridiculously low price so I bought it instead. Loved it but still yearned for the 14060. Then I found a nice 14060 but came across a 14060M at the same time. So I bought both of them. My thinking was to try them all for a while and keep the one I liked best. With what's been going on with the market I've not been in any hurry to sell any of them and I just rotate between them.

I can say that my preference is for the 5 digit models. Sure the 114060 has a great bracelet but I also like the 5 digit bracelets, they're a good "fit" with the case size and weight of the 5 digit models. You know all the differences between the two so I'll just say the 5 digits feel better on my wrist.

I'll miss the 114060 if I decide to sell it but I wouldn't keep it over the 5 digit model.
