Its a tough choice and one I just had the luxury of going through...the 5990 won out as I bid the 5164a adieu.

The 5164 will be more discrete with the rubber strap compared to the 5990 and its bracelet.

Love both references, but given your needs - 5164.

Plus if you plan on added 15202 later you'll have a great mix.

I must admit this is a very tough decision. I think I will start with the 5164..

Has anyone put a 5167 SS bracelet on a 5164? I would prefer this over the 5990.

Does fit but not seemless due to slight case variations!

5164 and 15202 at a later time. They’re the best combo. I have a friend who sold his 5164a for a 5990. He wants to buy back the 5164 and is on the waitlist.

Pros and Cons:

Price retention: 5990 wins (selling used above retail now, easily 10-12k)

Demand : Nauti wins again

More under the radar: 5164 wins

Presence : Nauti wins

For a travel watch 5164 it’s more adequate, 5990 PCL’s is a negative.

5164 is cheaper and easier to acquire compared to 5990

If your err on your decision, is better to err with the 5990 than 5164.

Personally I rather travel with a Rolex than a Genta bezel

Most important of all , pick the one that makes you smile the most

Cheers

on traveling...

my 5711R already has the bezel a bit scratched and the bracelet as well, after four intercontinental flights. my DD 40 looks pristine after ten trips.....i will not wear the nautis again on overnight flights.

No brainer, 15202st +5164.

If price were not a consideration 5990 +15202, the naut bracelet is amazing

Aquanauts are closing in pricewise, the 5167 is now at £22.5k at a big greys, retail is £14K, and the 5164 is at £32K, 6K over retail... and counting.

Yeah this is a Sports watches Market. They are doing pretty good , but I would say Daytonas and Nautilus* are still the kings of this market.

5990, saw this reference and it’s legit.

5164 is great too, honestly.
