Are two tone watches making a come back?

Seems over the past couple of years I’ve read two tone styles are growing in popularity again. What’s your thoughts?
Is it an age thing?

The new two tone Seadweller is really growing on me and I have never been a fan of two tone.

I hope so. Just picked up a 126333. I love two tone watches because they add a little gold and I don’t have to worry about matching my cufflinks, ring, etc. I am also noticing them more often.

I think so. Quality TT Oyster bracelet 5 digit models prices seem to be moving up.

Since you can't get anything in SS, it would only make sense. However watches like the TT Bluesy, TT CHNR, and TT DJ will always be on everybody's radar. I am surprised the TT Daytona does not gain more traction, same with the TT Sky-Dweller. Must be because they are YG?

Rolex is defined by some models :

SS Daytona
Blue TT Sub
Pepsi GMTs
TT DJ

They are. When more trendy brands start getting into the 2 tone business that's a sign they are coming back. IE Tudor, Oris, etc.

Well, I’ve purchased two TTs this year, not because expect them to make a comeback, but because they look damn good to me:

I loved my two tone sub when I had it, I just started thinking that it was too flashy so I sold it.

Every now and then when someone posts a pic of one, I miss it.

I think the bluesy is a good watch in rotation, but I wanted a watch that I could wear every day.

So far my DJ has fit the bill

I recently had 36mm DJ TT listed for sale that was getting lots of inquiries and bids. Kept raising the price then decided to keep the watch. The TT’s just look cool in rotation.

They are by far the best value right now. You can buy them from a gray or AD for a nice discount. Most times it’s cheaper than a full SS watch.

Regardless I like them for the strength of stainless with a little extra flash and value of the gold. It’s still too much for me to wear every day but if I want my wrist to feel a little special then TT does the job. Especially for 1/3-1/2 the price of a full PM piece.

have to agree the new steel and gold daytonas with updated bezels really are smart!

Im not a huge fan of the steel and gold watches but the new steel and rose roger Federer datejusts on a jubilee bands are also exceptional

Don't call it a comeback, been here for years. Sorry could not help the LL Cool J reference. Yups. They are on the move! I am sure there are many factors driving the market. Great value on the second hand market vs SS models. The look is amazing (I love the contrast of YG / RG against the SS), availability at AD and second hand market, fashion trends... etc. I bought mine sometime ago and added another this year at a decent price. I think as the SS craze continues more and more folks will wander over to the TT side of the house... I mean really who does not love TT's... LOL

My TT tag heuer gets a lot more compliments than my sub c 114060 and dj41 126300. They stick out a LOT more imo.

I don't think they were ever out of the style.. they may not be as popular here as SS but we represent a tiny fraction of Rolex buyers.

I believe they may very well be making a comeback.
They're popping up all around the place again and even the SD43 now has a TT version.

As a younger lad I always associated a TT watch with the more affluent people of an earlier generation and a relic of a bygone era.
Then we had an enduring presence in the market place of cheaper plated TT watches that looked cheap and became terrible(even from a distance) as the plating wore off exposing the basemetal when they got older.

To my tastes, the Everose gold is very classy but only when it is complemented well with the dial.
For example my wife's watch is TT (SS and Everose) with a fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet, but the dial is white MOP which predominantly throws variations of pink and green colouring with the occasional surprise of blue.
The combination works superbly for her very fair complexion
When we first met she was wearing your every day yellow gold TT style of watch which didn't look quite right but nice enough.
As she started to get into watches and we were planning on getting married we looked for something for her as a wedding present from me.
The search for the right thing was rather extended with all options on the table(even Platinum) but we finally found the right thing for her.

I have the very same complexion as my wife and have been a SS sort of person all my life and would never really entertain a TT watch of any description.
Then about a month ago I saw a TT DJ 41 with fluted bezel on a Jubilee but it had the Sundust dial with sticks.
That watch was absolutely stunning to the point I had to try it on. I have to admit I was smitten.

So I think that gold such as Everose may be leading the comeback of TT watches.
Omega are bringing out more versions of watches in TT as well as other brands so the momentum is growing.

If I ever win the lotto, I'll be straight down to the dealer for one of those TT DJ 41's in a heartbeat
Even if it does have the new 32×× movement in it. I am prepared to overlook it

I think if John Mayer would just casually mention liking a TT watch, it would blow the lid off this place!
