How much is the premium? It may be worth considering.

A sub date is not much above MSRP from a gray dealer or classifieds on here.

If you buy individual you could prob get it at MSRP or below for mint.

Just pay the tiny premium if any if you want brand new

To me, time is worth something. I'll pay more for something I want if I get it now versus waiting, especially months or years. Not trying to start a tax debate, but most sellers on TRF are not charging tax. Where I live, that is about $1000 for a sub, so pay over retail and still essentially break even.

I’m just curious why a sub date is the watch that you picked?

Buy a Rolex that your AD has in stock and enjoy

I was in a similar scenario, and I couldn’t justify paying more than retail. It took trips to 5 AD’s within 100 mile range but one did eventually come through. Ironically he had one in the safe and then got another one in so he didn’t want to sit on both and offered it up with no purchase history. Good luck and hoping you get the call.

To be real about it November is not long at all. You had the holidays, so you’re not getting any SS sport model around the holidays unless you’re really lucky or a VIP. And depending on where you live you probably lost some of March and all of April and May. And given the current situation I would say it’s still going to be dry for a while.
As others have said if you get one Grey and don’t pay tax then your not too far off of retail.
Keep waiting, buy grey, or look at a different brand. It might not be what you want to hear but that’s how it is.

Why not just go Grey/preowned? Less than MSRP + tax

Life’s too short to keep banging your head against the wall

I’m thinking about it too. I’ve never paid more than retail but I guess there’s always a first time for everything.

Stop using the word shortage, there is no shortage. Unfortunately I’m sick of this game to. I’m sick of these ADs selling to the grey. I bought an OP for my (now ex) in Jan of last year, and just like that by some miracle, the AD was able to get me a Sub date a week later. It’s all a game that I wish would end.

I paid 8-9% over (MSRP inc taxes in California) for NIB Unworn about 6 months ago.

These seems to be lowest differential for harder to find watch is sub c and ADs seem to be getting few in stock from post I have seen over last few days.

I just picked up my 2nd watch 121670 BLNR pre owned and love that watch too.

Do you have any purchase history with this particular AD? With the SS models, they are always going to sell to a previous client who wants that piece before some random person just walking in.

I think if you call around there's a decent chance you are able to source a sub date in a relatively reasonable timeframe - I was offered one within 3 months of putting my name down (albeit I had a little bit of purchase history)

Also grey is not a bad route, you are really not paying that much premium (if at all) after taxes

Go grey with a sub. It's worth the little bit over MSRP (I'm eating my own words here) cuz it's not worth brown nosing AD's. It'll be at your door tomorrow and you can enjoy it.

I feel the same way. I tried to kiss some butt and offered to bring 2 friends with, one wanted a BLNR and another a day date. All of us ready to buy. Didn't work. I got the cold shoulder and I've purchased three from this AD. Ever since my prior sales guy left, it's been the same old game. I'm going grey on my next purchase without a doubt.

I agree. If it’s the watch you can’t stop thinking about just go grey. Your not even on the waitlist, so your not getting this watch anytime soon. Prices are extremely reasonable right now on the grey market.

MSRP is so arbitrary.

If you want it that bad, what’s another few thousand?

Yea, I thought I'd play that game and it lasted a day haha.

The sub prices are definitely reasonable. Pepsis, daytonas, and hulks are all shams on the grey

What’s wrong.

Just Couple thousands, if not wait

Rolex is a luxury brand, it maintains its supply constant and steady

It wouldn’t ramp up production because of few years anomaly for you

People who really love the watch would've bought it already, with premium if they have to.

People who stick to this MSRP mantra sounds more like they are trying to cash in.

Hard truths... I paid the premium for all my sports models.

Living in a city state, I have zero chance of hoping for AD unless I’m a big spender

Good for you. I bought my Sub Date, which I’m wearing at the mo, 30 years ago. It was supposed to be my one and only grail, I’m not rich either...this is just the start, my friend! As long as you keep it for the rest of your life and hand it down. 1000 quid extra really makes no difference to anything. Think about how much you have spent and lost on cars, holidays etc. This life is a one time event. Go on...treat yourself!
