This could wind up a more expensive route.
Do not settle, and go with the watch that your truly desire, because ultimately the Sub will always be on your mind since it is your grail. If you can afford to, pay the slight premium and enjoy it now. |

The days of buying a Rolex optimally are long gone. I had to come to peace with that 2 years ago. That said other brands are just as exciting and I like them just as much as my Rolex models. I have focused on them more as Rolex evolution of design is very slow and conservative so you learn nothing that significant will happen in a new model. I can understand the desire for one of the new models with the new 32 movement as it’s future proof for a long long time. The Rolex Sub will be getting a new movement but we all knew this and we know the movement so why overpay now for the old model?? My logic is if I am going to over pay, it’s gonna be on the latest and newest movement. |

I show pics like this to my AD every time she says I ask for a difficult watch lol. I tell them if you guys stop selling them to greys we wouldn’t have an issue. It’s funny how they google customers to see if they are resellers when they are the ones doing all the reselling Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What you have said is patently incorrect. You need look no further than this forum to find flippers. Im not saying all ADs are saints. But I can categorically state that not all customers are either. |

They are no longer on Instagram. Did they go broke hoarding all the hyped SS pieces? |

So that begs the question of why the consumer wants a particular Rolex model? For some I think the answer is "because I won't lose money when/if I sell it". |

Fully agree with this. You get to spend more time with the watch you want and to buy it at retail you probably have to buy lots of other rubbish on top to develop a relationship which would make it the same as a grey sellers price anyway.

Just buy the one you want on the grey market and be done with it. Pay a little premium at the front end for effectively a lifetime of watch owning/wearing satisfaction.

It's a shame that value retention consumes so many people, but I understand why. |

I am new to the forum but I have already identified several flippers but they are a minority. Majority are genuine enthusiasts |

so sick of the shortage!!
I purchased a sub grey market just a few months ago for just $100 over retail and it was 4 months old. If you want one THAT badly they can be had for pretty close to retail still, just have to look in the right places

I agree, there are some flippers on here for sure but that guy in the pic with 20+ hulks and other pics of resellers with as many Daytona’s didn’t just get lucky, a nice combo of flippers and shady AD’s sold those watches. It is what it is, best of luck to everyone trying to get these pieces Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Interestingly I just checked how many Rolexes are for sale on Chrono24 this morning and 80,001 results came back
That’s a lot of watches to choose from. Don’t waste time playing the AD games |

This is called Capitalism 101. Supply and Demand. If you don't want to pay over retail or buy per-owned, perhaps you need to look at other brands. The market balance of supply and demand sets price. The purchase price of a watch or a house or a car, is whatever someone is will to pay for it. Why is this difficult to understand? |

So none of what you said pertains. If you like to blow extra money at an item that costs less, that's your prerogative. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk |
