Purchase 2020 blackbay gmt?
My AD is selling me a new blackbay gmt with 15% discount. Would you pull the trigger considering the whole date issue?

Yes! 99% of GMT owners have never had an issue. An outstanding watch at a super price. Grab it, you won't regret it.

As long as it’s a watch that you like and will wear to enjoy, yes.

If it is on a steel bracelet, yes. If It’s not but you would prefer it on a steel bracelet then I’d say maybe not. I bought mine on the leather strap back when they were much harder to find figuring I might get a steel bracelet down the road. As it turns out the bracelets are quite expensive if viewed as a percentage of the overall watch price.
Lesson learned and now I’m waiting patiently on my BB58 with the bracelet despite coming across a couple on the straps. GMT is currently on a Rubber B. |

Sunken cost fallacy. NO WAY! What other manufactured good would you buy with known unfixable failures just because you're getting a discount?
From what I've seen around here, it's pretty common, and when they've "fixed" it, it fails again within a few months... and so on... If you want an alternative, check longislanwatch or gnomon for a steinhart or squale. They use ETA or Selita and are both highly respected brands, they also both cost under $1k. Get one of those AND something else! The discount you're offered is more rare than the failure of the date on the watch, that says RED FLAG to me! |

I love the look of the GMT, but I find it inexcusable that after a few years they still can't get the date issue right.
As said above, if this was any other brand they would get absolutely flamed for this. They seem to get a free pass on TRF though. It really puts me off the brand. Personally, I'm not buying a watch that has a record of breaking - albeit a potentially small failure rate. I just read of too many going wrong. |

Good deal if its the SS bracelet.
Anyways if you're into GMT watches then yes definitely. The only downside to this is the aluminum bezel, which may be good or bad depending on how well the colors retain after 20+ years. My friend purchased his w/ leather strap on Nov 19, still working fine no date wheel issues. Depending on luck maybe. I got mine few weeks back with no issues as well. Given the price and availability compared to the pepsi, I'll take my chances with this, but by all means this is not a pepsi replacement. |

Purchase 2020 blackbay gmt?
Personally, I don’t like the thicker black bay case, so I wouldn’t buy it for 50% off. If you are into the watch, you won’t typically get any discount on it new, so I would definitely pull the trigger.
Must be steel bracelet IMO. |

If you like them of course. The date issue is one of those forum things that gets magnified by the quite rightly upset few. The other tens of thousands don't comment when the watch works...
It's worth trying on as others share it's quite thick. But it is a sports watch. |

No. And I’m a Tudor fan with several pieces. The date thing bugs me.

The date issue trumps all other consideration for the watch, discount and all.
You would think that with all the very public concerns and rework done would eventually solve the date issue. So for a Tudor fan like me, no, I’d stick with the ETA powered Tudors for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

i caution every potential Tudor buyer to honestly ask themselves, why they are getting one.
Is it truly because you love the Tudor brand and you love the design of their watches. Or are you just subconsciously thinking, rolex status but for less money. people who buy with this rationale eventually fall out of love with their watch. |

Having experienced the date issue this weekend just passed, I would say no. It appears to be completely random if the fault occurs in any given timepiece and the fact it occurs and re-occurs even where repairs or movement replacement has been undertaken leads me to believe there’s not currently a definite fix.
Equally, on the bracelet, I thought whilst well made and finished, it wore wide at 22mm and the limited amount of micro adjust and/or on the go adjustment made it uncomfortable to me. The leather strap and deployant are both very nice however and the watch looks great on fabric. Go BB58 or another Tudor, they’re very nice watches, but I can’t recommend the GMT anymore... |

Problem with your argument is you are falling pray to the availability heuristic, and mistakenly think that hearing about an issue from a few WIS is somehow representative of the entire stock sold worldwide. You are also assuming that there is no fix for the issue which is utterly absurd, considering Rolex/tudor have been making watches with date functions for about as long as wrist watches had a date function. There was an issue with this and then forums like this and posts that people read magnify the issue. |

My experience is an amazingly accurate, retro styled, modern built timepiece. If you like it, get it. And the status whores know where they can stick it.

Sure. Seems fair for a decent Tudor.
