Got my first Patek

I have always been mainly a collector of Rolex, but due to some certain circumstances this became available to me at some what of a fair deal. I really love the feel of it on my wrist and it’s so stunning. Was thinking about getting a orange strap for it

Congrats! I bought mine earlier this week as well (a few threads down). 5164a is perfection. Not that it matters since it sounds like you didn't go through AD, but the retail price on these is jumping by quite a bit on Oct 1.

Glad to hear! Haha it will make me feel like way less of a trick ..... it was a really weird situation how I ended up with this watch. I made an arrangement for a AP perpetual calendar 3 months ago. Where I would be making payments over 2-3 months at 75k Canadian.... pretty simple. Well 11 weeks in I still had 30k to go. Wich I will admit I was a bit behind schedule...but I was also willing to clear the 30k on week 11...... by chance the AP market also went up... and the dealer claimed they can get 90-95k Canadian now. And that because I took so long they couldn’t honour that price anymore. With the current times and them being from New York ( being hit horribly with covid) I felt like there really is no point to try and haggle with a slick talking New Yorker lol soo I then looked through his inventory and found the Travel time.... soo overall I got hosed.... I went from paying 4-5k over retail on my dream watch. To paying like 15k over retail on something I love.... and now that I’m wearing it. I feel like maybe it was meant to be :)

Orange oem strap. 1, good luck getting one. 2, it won't fit on a 5164.

The 5164a is the perfect aquanaut in terms of price, look and function.

-the lugs on the left balances out the watch vs 5167
-dual time is most useful function
-it is stainless steel
-am/pm indicators

Firstly...congrats! I think it has been well said on various threads, its worth paying the price, even if > list for the piece you will adore and wear on a daily basis. It’s a beautiful watch and I absolutely love mine. Something I am yet to acquire is the blue tropical strap (5650G)...which looks awesome on the 5164 (i think the blue matches the home and away apertures. Wear it in good health!

Is that you, JM?

Congrats, OP. Looks sweet and you have a good attitude about getting renegotiated. Not sure I would be so flexible.

Wow!!!!!!! That is a heck of a watch for your first Patek. Congratulations. How long was the wait for you? I’d love the brown/gold variation.
