Daydate, platinum, fluted bezel, ice blue dial - roman markers or baguette markers?

Sorry for the third topic on this. Roman numeral ice dial now has entered the conversation.

Just curious which you would choose?

Making this decision is a problem I’d love to have. The previous generation of smooth bezel platinum DD40 with blue markers is a true grail of mine.

In this configuration (without the fluted bezel) all the attention is focused on the dial, and the sans serif roman indices are truely beautiful.

I find the new reference with the fluted bezel slightly busier. The blue Roman indices are no longer available, with silver tone markers (potentially actually platinum?) the only option for Romans. In this case, I’d go with the diamond dial and let the bezel remain the focus.

Please feel free to ignore this opinion - it’s all armchair musing as the watch is well outside my budget and my AD wouldn’t let me near one in person!

I have a WG and RG DD, both with the Romans. If I were to get the platinum, I would want Romans as well. I love the look but all IMHO. Can’t do wrong with any combination

I agree that the blue Roman’s and textured dial were super cool. I think you’ll also find the ice dial with the silver Roman’s to be spectacular as well. Different kind of cool. Sometimes in low dim light the dial and markers all look silvery and reflective of the temperature of the light and blend with the platinum like liquid metal. Sometimes the dial looks bright blue and the markers match the platinum metal so well and just pop off the dial with a 3d effect. Either deconstructed Romans dial you ultimately go with will not let you down. Personally, I think the baguettes happened to be the more boring, Less dynamic option.

I’m just not a diamonds guy. Someyh8ng I never want on one of my watches but it’s all personal taste.

I have owned both and prefer the understated elegance of the standard dials.

The blued Roman is something else and would be my pick over baguettes

I like the Romans in white metal (hard pass on the blued) so in this case I guess diamonds.

The new fluted version with white gold Romans is my favorite.

Rolex DJ and DD lume sticks are way too basic. No chamfers, no real finish. Such a missed opportunity.

Found this photo on the forum somewhere. I don’t know who’s wrist it is but I think it’s the best looking shot of the silver romans on ice blue.
