Rolex only or multi-brand collection?
Catch myself going back-and-forth on this. If I’m being honest with myself, Rolex is my true love and I can see having a Collection of two or three Rolex models. But at the same time, I would like to have multiple watches to switch out when my mood changes. I also like having an assortment of different brands and looks to go to. I’m just curious what others thoughts are on this. I realize it’s true Lu subject. I currently own two Rolex and three other brands (Hublot, Panerai, Breitling) but I am still contemplating going all Rolex or adding another different brand watch.

I think Rolex will always be the primary brand for me, but I like to have a little variety. I’ve always loved Panerai, and Seiko and recently added an Omega.

Expanding into multi-brand with pieces from the horological trinity, independents, Lange, Grand Seiko, Omega, etc, would be a start of a more complete watch journey in my view. You will get to experience different design languages, different levels of finishing, different watch tech, etc.

Multi brands keep it interesting and opens up your style options a lot . As good as Rolex is, they are not the only significant or interesting design. Personally I am a huge fan of the Panerai design and their proprietary watch materials.

No desire to put limits on the collection. Rolex is a great core brand, but variety is the spice of life.

I’ve owned Breitlings, GS, Omega, and Rolexes over the years and have narrowed my interest to Omega for their outstanding dial textures and case sizes for my wrist, and Rolex for their unbeatable bracelets and value retention/brand distinction.

I enjoy watches, some are Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Tissot, Citizen, Frederique Constant, Tag, Glycine, some micro-brands, and so glad lately I've discovered the magnificence of Panerai.
There will be a Patek 5135 in the future, a Panerai 690 and a 5513 at some point. The Wormhole Consumeth... |

Whatever I like on my wrist, independently of brand. It’s watches, not Tablescape.

My biggest interest will always be Rolex and AP. I would love to add more Patek at some point but not enough to play their AD games.
I have in the past owned Omega, Heuer, GS, and Panerai. I still own a GS but sold the others. GS surprised me the most with their quality and design. I do have a vintage Patek that I love as well. The point I’m trying to make is: have your primary brands (Rolex and maybe another one, for me it’s AP). Then play with the others. At one point my collection got too big. I think 7-8 watches is the sweet spot. Once you get to 10+ many sit unworn. Keep your stables of Rolex and play with others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Far too many exciting brands to be limited to just one

Ive always liked Panerais look, but my wrist is too small to wear one, anything over 42mm looks ridiculous on me. Seiko divers watches are cool to own on the days you dont want to wear an expensive Rolex.
Omega, Zenith, Breitling are also nice to have around when not wearing your Rolex. |

I'm good with Rolex & Omega. If I were adding another brand, it would likely be Breitling. I could do without brands like Carier, JLC, IWC and Zenith. I'll never have a Patek, AP, VC, or ALS.

I just love and am interested in watches, ever since growing up in Geneva, a small boy who often pressed his nose against the many watch shop windows along the Rue du Mont-Blanc. Yes, I´m a bit Rolex centric, but there really are so many good watches from other brands out there. So many, so little time, so little money...!

Don’t know if the question makes me sad for the recent shift and state of watch collecting or happy every watch will soon be a Rolex and we can move on.

I'm a relatively new addict to this game and definitely buy and wear what I like rather than what the brand is. I got to 20 watches fairly quickly over about 4 years. Collection comprises casios, citizen ecodrives, rotary, vostok, breitling and of course a rolex (bluesy). I managed to get the bluesy 3 years ago for my 50th and fairly certain there's not an AD out there who would deem me a big enough hitter to sell me another in this climate. Quite certain I just got lucky with that one.
Breitling is now my luxury brand of choice with some really nice watches, in my opinion of course, which are available in shops to buy (always a plus!). Whether it goes with what I'm wearing or just puts a smile on my face or is practical for what I'm doing that day, that's the one I wear. Variety is the spice etc! |

I don't like date functions, am not real big on a lot of color on watches, and honestly don't like all that many Rolex designs. The only two I currently have are a 39mm Explorer and a 41mm Submariner. I've dabbled in Milgauss and OP's. I would have added a 116520 white dial if prices didn't get stupid. The rest are Omega, Dornbluth, Stowa, and even a Timex. At times there were Zenith, Grand Seiko, Sinn and others.

I’ve gone back and forth. I’ve recently moved on a couple pieces. I only want to keep what I will wear.
I like variety in color but like specific design elements. All my pieces are varied in color but similar in design DNA. These are the pieces I keep going to and the ones that have stayed. In addition to the 3 below, I recently added a BB58 in blue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I like all sorts of watches. Of the brands I own, Rolex is my favourite and this is reflected by the Rolex leaning bias of my collection.
It really depends on what you are into. There's no right/wrong answer. |

You do you. That's the most important thing.
But generally speaking most of us in this forum haven't ventured too far. There's so much further up to go, even if you're worried about value. Vintage Rolex, Audemars, Patek, vintage Patek, FP Journe, Richard Mille, Roth, Roger Smith, Dufour etc etc... The world is way way bigger than Rolex. But you might always come back. |

I guess I've been sucked into the hype but I don't have enough excess cash to experiment. I have one modern Rolex and hope to get a second. The others were purchased over 45 years ago.

I have had many “nice” watches over the years along with many other cheaper microbrands. I like watches, would have been very boring to have only Rolex all these years.
