Condition evaluation. What is under the rehaut?
So I picked up another Air King with a decent case and a beautiful Pool dial.
Kind of took a gamble on this since the seller did not have pics of the movement. However, is this rust near the rehaut? I'm very puzzled cause I dont know what part of the watch is that... Those brown spots doesnt seem to be on the rehaut... Any input on this would be much appreciated! Do I have to return this baby :(? Last edited by brand_c; 30 January 2020 at 11:37 AM.. Whatever it is, you should have a watchmaker look at it since we can only guess.
But it you’re up against a deadline to return it, I’d say return it. I don’t think it will improve over time and could be a costly fix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It’s rust. It’s not on the rehaut, it’s between the crystal and the retention ring.

If there is rust on the retaining ring, that sounds like a trivial issue. Totally irrelevant, but I don't understand the appeal of such corporate logo dials.

Thank you all for the quick replies. The bezel was a bit loose and I happened to have a bezel opener with me.
Rust in the retaining ring / inner bezel can be removed by a watchmaker yeah? So this isnt an absolute dealbreaker? And I find these corporate dials and the inscriptions on the caseback so charming. I believe a user by the name of Powerfunk shares this peculiar interest too :) |

It is rust.
You need to have the watch completely taken apart by a watchmaker and see what he says. Can be more than what you see there.
