Chaps

When I first joined this forum in 2014 it did strike me as being filled with the more materialistic type of person.

However after 3 years you just get used to it.

Mick

whatever happened to that thread where the guy posted a pic from inside the AD with a giant stack of cash? That needs to be here as well.

I was noting the irony in your comment on some materialistic postings being "cringe worthy" and you post pics of your car.

I do in fact like your car a lot, its pretty sweet. I enjoy looking at it as well as steering wheels, wallets, shoes etc that the OP said were pretentious

Thanks. For the record, I like nice things and my comment was not about materialistic postings it's about D-bag postings so no Irony there.

Wow--couldn't find this since it was moved! A few guys obviously get it, many do not, but I didn't think I was in such a slim minority. We're obviously all brought here due to our shared interest in [Rolex] watches, but I thought this form of "here's what I have" was left behind on middle school. How many here also work in the cost of your watches to acquaintances not familiar with Rolex prices?

Welcome back OP... we have had a lot of fun while you were away

No one here brags about how much anything costs, ever, that I'm aware of. If you know watches or cars or wallets or shoes you can figure it out or probably already know, but no one says guess what i just spent $xxxxx on this. People share their collections, hobbies, and interests to varying degrees.

If anything the obsessive discussions on discounts proves that no one is trying to pay the most.

Stick around, read some posts and with a little context, you will understand its not coming from a "here is what i have" place at all. There was a thread just today that was misunderstood and the people here jumped all over the OP because they thought he was implying he was better than someone because he had a rolex (which he was not). https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=545058

This is a fun forum to celebrate great watches and lifestyle.

I worked very hard for everything I have and enjoy seeing others celebrate their success as well.

I wonder what OP expected to find when he joined a forum about Rolex?

There's thousands and thousands of educational and informative posts regarding the history, technology, and development of the Rolex lineup as swell as general acquisition.

There are hundreds of the contrived variety. My OP was regarding those.

Agree! Surprised at how many can read an analog display, but struggle with with other other daily decisions. Thanks for getting it.

Not intending to be overly pretentious, but pretension would be a better word in this sentence.

This thread is hard to read without laughing.

This is the Rolex forums.

There's a handful of guys here who are retired divers or pilots but everyone else collects man jewelry. Get over it.
