Need help with authentic correct yellow gold fluted bezel for 1803 1974 3,487,xxx
So I took my father's 1803 to the dealer to get serviced and they said they would not service it because it had a diamond bezel that my dad put on in the 70's that I think was Rolex made but did not come with the watch.
I would like to get the regular gold fluted bezel and I have seen many on ebay. Some of them have a gold crown stamp on the back and some don't. They say the ones that don't are authentic but not stamped. If it has the wrong bezel they won't service it. So my question is does anyone one know the the 1974 1803 came with a fluted bezel that had a stamp on the back or was not stamped. How do you tell if the ones that are not stamped are authentic? Thanks for your help. |

Odd, I would think an AD could have a new bezel put on. I would call around.

I went to two different Rolex dealers her in San Antonio and they said the same thing. As of Oct 2019 if your Rolex has any parts that are not authentic to that watch they will not service it. Very disappointing.

The fix is simple: first, go to a trusted independent and swap them the aftermarket diamond bezel for the most beat up Rolex OEM 1803 bezel they can find. Depending on the diamond bezel, it should be close to an even swap.
Then, second, go back to Rolex RSC, and have them put a new Rolex OEM 1803 bezel on the watch. Since the beat up bezel is a Rolex bezel, they’ll do it; and they’ll give you a price credit towards the new bezel. Keep in mind, with RSC, they may require you to have the watch serviced. But, it’s already a frankenwatch. So this is to your chance to get it serviced and put back to Rolex specs. Of course, another option would be to do all of this with a trusted independent. It’s your choice. |

Don't deal with the AD.
Send your Rolex to the Dallas RSC and tell them that you want an authentic bezel put on your watch, along with a proper service. That's what they do.
