Do you recall this style's name? When I read about guilloché, and the machine on the cover of, Watch Time, I think it was, I started imagining a new trade for myself.

Well sure it's the "wow that looks cool gotta get one" style, maybe that's not the official name but that's what it sounded like when I first saw it

Thanks John
We hit a quite patch now till April and fine tune some of the colours but yes it will definately be blue. The unknown is the power reserve indicator. He is presentiung at SIHH and that may influence me a little. Have my ticket but cant go...oh well.

Could someone post a pic of the guilloche options Kari offers (and/or convince Kari to make it public so we can all salivate and daydream for what we'd choose for a hypothetical KV watch)?

Of course blue, that's the way to go and the way I am going as well, other colors are cool but seeing the blue Vingt-8 is what made me want to get one.

So we been pretty quite and thats mainly because i have just been over whelmed by choice and idecision and have to concede I just find it easier to choose a watch in a catalogue....

The Power Reserve...whilst I really wanted this functionality I think that it could be a detraction...Kari has sent me additional pictures on how it would look but despite the overwhelming poll that PR is the way to go...I have told him to can the idea and just concentrate on the Vingt 8....

However I cant find a picture but there is a reason the hands are photographed at 10;08...it gives symetry. The moment the hands moved to 8;20 a huge gap opened up above the axis. The idea is that the illusion of the dial fills the gap....but then unless you can actually see it looking 3 D it will just show a vacant area!!

The obvious solution is to place his name there and not lower down on the seconds dial...

In order to do that you can no longer have the illusion but need to change the guilocche design....so we are down to the following alternatives as a short list

Stunning dial. But I still prefer the symmetry that the power reserve indicator offers.

I think you need something under the hour markers. Leave the matte dial for the Sea Dwellers.

This is so great! Thank you for sharing in this way. Really enjoy this thread.

As for the PR, I LOVE it, and would definitely go for it. Really adds a unique feel to the watch, it's beautiful and it's a useful complication.

As for the comments from the flippers on this thread, I tend to think if you went through this experience and helped design "your" watch, you wouldn't feel the urge to flip....

You made the right decision by not going with the PR. It throws the whole dial off and hides the illusion. I would also consider removing his name.

Between the sunburst and the vegue I prefer the sunburst, I kind of like the original design, though you are right in that the top is a little empty when the hands are in the bottom, but it doesn't really bother me.

About leaving out his name it is not bad but I kind of like the fact that it is at the bottom and very discreet, really not in your face, can't imagine havimg a watch without the name of the brand or watch maker on it, while when it is on the upper side it is much more visible.

For the outer dial, I clearly prefer with guilloché and is what I chose. As you know mine will be very close to this photo, but with numerals on the whole dial, and I asked him to do a darker deeper blue with a pinch of purple, like on the RG model on his website with the red enamel, we need to see what will be the result visually with the blue enamel, if it looks great fine we are going with that, of it looks off then we are going with the same blue as this picture.

I really like the PR watches he makes, but yes it does take something away from the beautiful simplicity of the watch, I also hesitated, but decided not to get it and stay with the original design that made me want to get the watch in the first place when I saw it, but the PR does make the watch look more balanced.

About the last picture yes it is a beauty as well, but you are like me and love blue, and I am pretty sure that like me you wanted to get one when you saw the original blue enamel dial model, so I think you will get more enjoyment out of the original design, with a few changes of course.

Anyways can't wait to see it

For me this is by far the nicest Vingt-8
