You're also spot on with the forearm size... here's my before and after getting my PT 44.

If they deduct the $10k the strap is worth, that'd help too!

Lol! And that man will have the largest difference in forearm sizes than any other man on the planet

Nice review but this watch is unwearable. The release buttons on the bracelet will cut into the wrist and be extremely uncomfortable.

What was AP thinking when they decided to make a 1lb watch??

And what's the point of wearing it on a strap and paying that kind of money to have the platinum bracelet sit in a safe??
Well, they wanted to give the wearer the option to tone it down with the strap in case they can't life heavy weights.

While it is very heavy you get used to the weight. The gold pounder is relatively close to the platinum one in weight and a couple friends that own it wear them as their daily wearers.

Heavier than your Tryptique? Maybe a little but not so much I would think

Saw this piece at Harrods today. Was not brave enough to try it on however.

Great review.. Too bad the price is not too great.. or rather it is great .. as in high... :)
Maybe heavy enough to provide daily weight lifting.
Nonetheless--- beautiful piece

So I tried this watch on at the NYC boutique and its AMAZING. The weight is almost hilarious, but I kind of liked it. It's likely the best on the strap...but the dial is one of my favorite dials I've ever seen in on a watch. I could see someone going to one watch with this honestly, well maybe that and a dress watch. The fact that there are only 50 and this is such a unique piece (though not due to any movement or anything) would make that kind of interesting.

Tried it at the Hong Kong boutique:

The dial is really stunning in the flesh. It is comically heavy - but a good way to get some weightlifting in!

As great as it looks, I simply can't imagine wearing something this heavy. I still think the Elephant is the nicest ROO in the current 42mm collection.

I spent some more time with this piece today and had it sized correctly so I could really determine whether the weight on bracelet is too much.

And the rest as they say is history.........

Thanks Ken. Highly tempted now. Definitely changed my mind on its wearability!

I don't notice the platinum 44 on my wrist, I think you get used to it.

Congrats Roger. Though this is one AP watch I will never put on for obvious reasons.

Wow, that is my favorite looking AP ROO 42.
Very nice, way too heavy for my tastes but on a strap I would tolerate it!!
Roger, I secretly hope you get it so we can all live vicariously

Pic courtesy of MasterSerg... he texted me this a cpl weeks ago. I was working at the time, and, from quick glance, I thought it was a Safari!

He texts me back: Mike, look again!!!! Then, I almost fell over, lol.

That's what most people thought during the SIHH 2017.
