Broken strap screw

Hi guys, questions for u guys. Yesterday, it was the first time I changed the strap on my one and only one Pam. When I was screwing one of the screws back into the screw slot, it suddenly.........BROKE, and the broken part of the screw is still inside the screw slot/hole. I know, I know, so stupid of me...I've always been a Rolex guy and never have to change straps...until I got my 1st Pam last week and started to play with a new strap...oh well

Has any of u encountered this experience before??? I assume I have to take the Pam back to the service centre to have it fixed? The question is, can it be fixed? If so, how long usually it would take them to fix it? Thanks guys for helping me out during this tough time :(

If the screw is still inside the threads I would assume it will need to be drilled out, or removed with a tiny screw extractor set.

Since it's a week old, you shouldn't have any issues getting it repaired.

I would guess a few months repair time.

You should be happy it happened now, and not on a ski tripm or hiking venture!

Good luck!

Thanks man. Actually I bought it used and the original owner bought it new in May this year and I assume it's still under warranty. Do u know whether this kinda mishap is under warranty? Does this happen a lot to other Pam owners? Can't believe it will take them couple of months to fix it...this is sad...

this happened to my brand new pam 88 gmt the day i bought it! the screw wont come out so u can still wear it with that strap. I sent it back to panerai to fix as u cannot find a screw extractor set that small, took about 5 weeks.

That was a year ago but the screw that panerai gave me has such a small groove that my oem panerai screw drive striped the head so now i have no grip on the screw! So i have been wearing it with the oem brown croc for a while but have a few straps on the way.

My rolex deepsea has been getting all the wrist time for the past 2 months anyways.

Don't worry too much. It's a small thing that happens.

Plus you can say that you have strong arms the next time you go on a date!

Wow that is an unfortunate mishap and something that I guess only a service centre could fix.
I hope the thread isn't stripped on the lug.
It shouldn't cost too much to fix, but it would require some expert attention for sure..
Good Luck

This scenario happened exactly to me a few months ago, after going back to the AD, I was told they could not fix it and they wanted me to buy a new clasp for over $500.00 I said no, as I have a Rolex's and anytime anything goes wrong whether under warranty or not it could at least be repaired. I just bought an aftermarket clasp for $25.00

Mine wouldn't come off either.. I took it in my service centre for repair, waited for like 30 minutes, and was charged less than 15 USD, and got a new bar/screw. :)
