I actually like the design except for the fact that it's 42mm. This would have been perfect at 38 or even 40.

If you are well into odd looking divers and already have a couple of Proplofs this just might be the one. For the general public, not so much. Maybe Tudor pulls a fast one and discontinue it after six months getting people all crazy for Tudor.

If it had a regular case (crown at 3), normal BB/Sub lugs and no weird end link, it would be a nicr steel-insert bb/sub iteration
Dial, crystal, bezel shape and crown are pretty cool... the monstruosity is the case and end links

I want to know more about the case dimensions. I think if that same case and dial design was launched on a normal oyster-style bracelet, or a normal leather strap and NATO combo, it would be a hit. You'd still have people not love it for sure, but the whole locking mechanism is unnecessary. Just looking at the case and the dial, I rather like it. The case looks slim enough, I'd be interested to handle one to get a feel for it. Won't buy one, but I'm intrigued.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!? I am actually starting to find some charm in this P01 thing. Its kind of growing on me. I almost wanted to puke when I first saw it. Weird.

Kudos to Tudor for keeping their true heritage going and pushing the envelope- unlike their parent company! True, not all designs work and some grow on us but like the recent Audemars Piguet offerings, Tudor have dared to be different.

However, I do think the design of this piece is from a certain time with influence by a certain type of male and I can see them being worn by those types of guys that wear denim and have overly large rings with big blue stones.

I think the make or break on this watch will be bracelet and strap variants.

To dismiss it as a piece of Sh** etc lacks imagination.

I read a comment on hodinkee with the same question and someone replied that you can't take the clasp thingy off (he read that somewhere else).

Looking at the backside and the lugs, I think he's right and you can't take it all off and simply put it on a nato.

Then again, it would be stupid if you couldn't remove it and if it does break then you need to be able to replace it. So we'll see.

What I don't get is why you make a diver on a leather strap? Can this strap go underwater? Even if it can, it just looks silly to me.

The top part is what locks the bezel in place so I'd imagine it's non-removable.

Yes, a leather/ rubber hybrid. Should have gone all rubber though. Not that it would change the rest of the watch.

Ask that question on Paneristi.

The strap is hybrid leather/rubber and should be fine in water as-is.

isn't it leather with a rubber backing? its still leather on the top and you can take it diving?

Or do you mean "hybrid" in that the scientists at Tudor got a cow to mate with a tire and their offspring was this strap?

The former, while I'm trying to picture the latter.

Hybrid is how they reference the strap; not my words. My guess is the leather has a coating to make it water resistant? IDK...

IDK either but i have seen lots of leather straps with rubber backings before. Its more comfortable. Doesnt necessarily make it suitable for water use.

You see it on rough fabric straps too where the lining is a different material sewed in

So I absolutely hated this watch when I first saw it.

Hated it.

The more I see it however, the more I become oddly attracted to it. Now I convinced myself to try it on when it arrives at dealers. It’s oddly captivating. Has an “I don’t give a f^(# what you think” about it that I like.

Interestingly, I’ve never had this reaction to a watch. It’s either love or hate.

I've seen a few wrist shots that really do the watch justice.

I'm not putting my name on any lists, but I will be in contact with the local Rolex AD to see if they can get one for me to try on.

The PO1 is no run-of-the-mill watch and it certainly stands out from the crowded BB line.

What I really like about this watch is the finish (how do you call it, brushed or satin or ...?).

If they could give this finish to the BB58 that would be amazing.
