Yes, very possible that the GMT LN will come back updated in Mid-Summer, and maybe something else, Rolex are not quite used to such universal neg criticism these days, esp at Basel, and they just might want to do something about it this year rather than leave this bad/indifferent taste lasting until next.

Rolex were hibernating this year which is fair play, tough days are coming in the days ahead... for finally... Winter is Coming.

Omegas belong in the garbage dump right next to Panerai and Tudor ....just my opinion. Landfill wristwear at best.

When you have waitlist a mile long for Daytona's released in 2016 and Pepsi GMT's in 2017 they weren't exactly compelled to have brilliant Basel offerings.

I like Omega and in particular the new re-edition of the gold one given to Apollo crews. I am also intrigued by the new/old 321 and what they will do with it. I don't own any currently as they just don't give me the warm and fuzzy's my Rolex do. I'm sure I will own another Speedy one day but not in a hurry.

Wow! That is a bit harsh, tell us how you really feel.

I am sure there are people who are as passionate about those brands as we are Rolex.

We all have our reason's to like what we like but it doesn't make other brands dog**** in the words of you know who.

Wow, the coolaid runs deep with some. It’s fun to have a favorite brand but there is a great big world of horological history outside of Rolex. Give your self a few more decades in the hobby and you will see to appreciate so many more manufactures.

Indeed, still a good chance for the Mods to clean the forum up of those just here to bait and provoke and lower the civilised tone of the forum.

This statement could not be further from the truth. Sure Omega maybe trying to play catch-up, but there was a tome Rolex was playing catch-up with Omega.

I suggest you get informed and know the history of Omega and the race between Omega and Rolex.

Cheers!

I'm a former employee of Swatch Group in Bienne, current owner of a bunch of Rolexes plus Swatch brands (Omegas, Tissots, Longines, & Swatch), plus throw in a few Seikos for good measure.

Just bought an Apple Watch 4 a couple weeks ago purely as a fitness watch to replace my Godawful Garmin Fenix 5, and to check out the concept. The Apple watch really is very impressive from a pure technology standpoint. The current major drag is you must have an iphone for it to work, and the latest iOS 12 seems firmly mired in the last decade...I wonder if anyone at Apple has even looked at recent versions of Android to see what 80% of the planet's mobile users use? Doubtful.

The watch's other major downside is the battery that requires recharging at least every couple of days.

I guess my point is to keep an open mind with everyone's products. I'm not the only person with both Rolexes and Apple Watches.

Cheers

I remember just 2 years back we were getting all the threads about how Apple is now the largest manufacture and how Rolex, Swatch and all other traditional watchmakers have dead businesses

I think Omega clientele is more price driven. For 2-5k you can get a reputable brand and amazing watch. I don’t think they compete with Rolex. Rolex is definitely on another playing field.

I don’t know why people would compare Omega to Rolex.

No one here is saying that Rolex is a bad company or that they are not doing well
but like you said when it comes to Basel it's cringe worthy.

Rolex was at least at Basel. Swatch chose not to attend the dance. 2017 and 2018 were both Rolex and Tudor’s years. By announcing no participation they took the pressure off the Crown. I think Rolex has one by default. I just don’t see Swatch kicking butt.

Besides Rolex knew exactly what they were doing; introducing the new movement in staple products that could use some support and forcing buyers to buy at a premium if they are going to buy.

Why does attending Basel affect anything? Swatch (and by extension Omega) have their own event going on now, and the press are allowed to comment in May.

Take those Rolex rose-tinted glasses off for a second. Rolex introduced the new movement to the GMT line last year, this isn’t new at all. Slapping a BLNR bezel on the BLRO case and jubilee bracelet got you all hot and bothered?? Also, if they wanted to update “staple” products that desperately need it, how about the sub? The sub movement has been around forever and the case design since 2009. Go ahead, defend “the crown”.....

Seriously.

Because they attended a show??

I respect the heck out of Omega for having the gonads to not attend. Imho, as a brand they are doing literally EVERYTHING better.

And now that the hubbub is over, I’m expecting some good stuff from Omega. Time will tell for sure.

I like Rolex watches. I’m wearing one now. But I’m not blinded by a brand. And I’ll certainly be able to give credit where it is due. Both make great watches.

Yet nothing quite like a Rolex fanboy. They are rabid.
