Ah so happy I got the Act 1. The Act 1 was the best release by far from Blancpain. 20230811_111030.jpg

I can't really add much to what has already been said, what an opportunity this was for Blancpain....... but which they have spectacularly missed!

Guys, I’m in total agreement with this watch and its price. However, my AD told he had 4 demand and only 2 supply so he was happy.

Not for me. The price is ridiculous.

The Act 1 was the closest iteration they’ve come out with that I would buy. The 70th anniversary text really should have been on the back of the case, but I could live with it. I was ready to purchase it their website during the release, but the $17,400 retail price for a steel watch without a bracelet and a cheap nato strap was a hard pill to swallow.

This is how a brand goes from oblivion, resurrection, and into self-immolation.

If Blancpain likes being niche, they are going to accomplish this in a way they never imagined, which makes the Swatch collaboration all that more puzzling.

Well, to 'normal' Swatch customers they now know the Speedy, and recently a brand far far fewer knew or even care about... until the Swatch X 'pain collab. Bring the illusion of importance and value via effective marking and utterly high pricing.... See, the high pricing is where we are at today. Just like Richemont's Panerai marketing plans.

To be fair, normal people may be FOMOing for the new 'pain release. Only need a small few, relatively. Pay Yeezy, Dre, or JayZ $100,000 to wear one for a pic on the socials. Flippers might be in for a wake-up call sooner than expected tho.

Marketing Idea: For release #4, make a 1:1 to the original 'pain as everyone seems to want... price it at a very reasonable $7500. Marketing saying ONLY for #3 buyers provided they bring it into their AD to prove they didn't flip it. This way they don't feel as bad overpaying what some say is 2x to 3x overpriced for release #3. It also solidifies a small group of fanboy voices as FOMO does in today's consumption-based economy.

Looks lame.

Movement is so ordinary as to be near unbelievable. Yet we're a long way from April Fool's Day.

And $30K+?

I'll be ROFLing for a while.

Absurd. Just absurd.

Looks wise, I like this one more than the Act 1 as it more unique looking in the Fifty Fathoms space, but the asking price (as well as movement compared to the 1315) for the Act 3 leaves a lot to be desired.

Plus Omega has the more advanced George Daniels coax movement.

How much are vintage 'pains?

Maybe BP and Hodinkee will get together again next year and come up with something nice like this.

Maybe everyone at BP that had anything to do with this will be selling Invictas in the center isle mall Kiosk by next Tuesday and we see something inline with market preferences for the 71st anniversary

Helson has been making this exact watch at $1200 for years (minus the gold and better movement)

Let’s see if an ONLY WATCH version is released as what people wanted — brushed stainless?
