Growing on me

I am totally NOT a chrono guy, but more and more I find these two babies smiling at me. Originally designed as prototypes for Italian Navy deck officers in 1943, but because of the turn of the war, they never went into production, until the 1990s with what I would call a release.

The blue one is the PAM06 and the white is the PAM07, both Mare Nostrums. They are 40mm and the simple, clean dial is the attraction for me. I find most chronos too busy and I really like the two register subdials. Yowsa!

Nah, too simple for me.

This is my idea of a chrono:

I like the Panny chronos, but not those. Something about them just doesn't say Panerai to me

Ah ha, young grasshopper... you have much to learn.

This is THE original OP chronograph. The contemporary ones are the ones I DO NOT like as the dials are too busy, IMO, for what I consider the classic Panerai look.

Original prototype radiomir in 1936, production radiomir in 1938, Luminor case in 1942 and this Mare Nostrom prototype in 1943... Cannot get more historic than that.

I think the white dial is absolutely stunning!

The one Panerai Chrono I like is the Radiomir 214.
Nice clean dial. Two subdials, easy to read, and will competently allow me to time the cooking of my Ichiban noodles

That's cool, but it looks like an attempt at a flieger chrono to me. I really like a lot of the pannies, just not this style

The Mare's wear soooo comfy on the wrist, though I would NEVER pay what people ask for them. They are nice, but give me Hutchmans slytech sub chrono and I am all set.

I'm taking your advice to heart, seeing as you are clearly the coolest mod here. Of course, a PAM is always better than a breitling
