Santa did come early this year...

Life is more hectic than ever with kids, extended family, buying/moving/selling house, work etc. I certainly didn't expect to get a call that "my" 372 had arrived but even if I hadn't seen it in person yet I knew I had to pull the trigger on this one.

Fedex delivered a BIG box around 10am (luckily I was working from home this morning, soon off to meetings)

The quicksilver was showing 29F this morning so I thought this was a timely gift.

Regular box, none of that hoity-toity LE stuff! :-)

Nothing special here, I just thought I'd share the experience/process.

My first time seeing the famous 372!

Patience. One more shot before picking it up! ;-)

At 47mm it is by far the largest watch I've ever owned (or plan to own).

Big clock. Pure DNA, as they say.

Lume works.

And the mandatory hand-in-a-jeans-pocket-shot! :-)

Initial impression: As I'm really favor/am used to wearing Subs and the likes the first observation on wrist is "Wow, this is a big watch!". But after 30 min or so it really settles down. The dial is so wonderful simple, minimalistic and balanced. The case shape really flows, almost sensual, and it sits very comfortably and flat on my 7"1/4 wrist. It is probably as thick as the DSSD, a quality I never liked with that watch, but it sits lower and the height is more on the top including the large plexi on top.

It has a wonderful vintage dive tool/instrument vibe about it. Matte sandwich dial and golden hands. No second hand, no sub-dial. Just pure oversized simplicity.

I was also a bit concerned about 26mm wide straps but is a non-issue.

It is much too early to give any final judgement. I really shouldn't add another watch at this point, but this piece is so different from everything I have or ever owned. I can totally appreciate Ken's passion for his vintage piece now. Each time I look down on the wrist I smile a bit. It somehow feels like one of those watches that keeps you a bit wild and young! :-)

Cheers,

Patrick

Big Congrats, Patrick
372 sits perfect and in your wrist despite it's 47mm.

Congratulations! Patrick, that piece is a thing of beauty and it looks particularly nice on your wrist! Wear it in good health! Now you can find a couple of straps that you really like and put them on your Christmas wish list...

Looks good on the other OEM strap that came in the box as well, which by the way is much softer.

Ahhh - found it

That is a big, beautiful watch Patrick - I agree - the space and size of the dial makes it quite something.

You wear it well mate....Looking forward to seeing how your impressions continue - but from here it looks fantastic

Congrats Patrick. It looks fantastic on you!!

Thanks a lot guys!

Wrist size isn't everything, it is more about your personality/vibe to be able to carry this one off, I think. I'm still not convinced that I can, but it is growing on me quickly. Being 6'1"/185cm sure helps though...

I couldn't leave it at home so I brought it to a business meeting in downtown DC this afternoon. Luckily not a suit meeting so it went well with a nice shirt and jeans (I love working web/hightech, no tie required! :-))

Now I'm just cruising around waiting for my 1st plexi cratch and nick/scratch/dent on the case. They will be there for certain... :-)

Why, the size I guess, if you go down the 47mm path then you will not be able to carry a 40mm anytime soon, but then again you are DSSD type of guy so no worries...

From the pics it sure does look good on your wrist but as you said you have to feel comfatable with it as well...

44mm PAM's are perfect IMHO, have you considered the PAM390?
