Back in the dark ages I would fill the lower portion of the Egg up with a mixture of lump charcoal and wood chunks, then set those adjustable openings to give me a pit temp of around 225-240. The large Egg has more than enough fuel capacity to make it through an all night smoke. Still, I would check on it every three or four hours (even if it meant waking up during the night) just to make sure my temp was staying in the sweet spot. However, my lovely Wife gifted me a BBQ Guru, and now all my low and slow cooks are a lot easier. The Guru has a computer controller that connects to pit and food temp probes, and also to a fan that fits into the lower draft door. I set my cook and meat temps with the little computer, light the Egg, get the temp close, plug everything in and walk away. The Guru connects to my network so I can monitor the cook from my phone, iPad, or desktop from anywhere in the world. NO MORE GETTING UP DURING THE NIGHT!

A large is perfect for me. I can cook three or four pork butts at a time, a couple of nice brisketts, probably a 15-18 pound turkey, etc. However, it's not too big and inconvenient to use if I simply want to grill a couple of steaks, or some burgers and hotdogs, or a pizza for the kids.

Looks great gents! I tell ya...I've really got to work on my photography skills. I can't seem to take a decent picture to save my life. I've also been thinking about adding a Minimax for tailgating, camping, etc.

Every picture I post is snapped with my iPhone.

Get the Minimax asap. We have a waiting list for them around here! When it is just the wife and I, it is quicker to start, faster to temp, and I do not waste the charcoal firing up the XL.

I have myself a large egg and just bought the 76" challenger cart to go along with it.

have any of you tried the reverse sear method for steaks?
If you haven't you need to give it a shot, I have been making the best steaks of my life using that method I have even had family come back with steaks for me to cook for them so they could take them home lol.

Fired up the Egg for some tasty hotdogs! My Explorer is at RSC for routine service so I'm relying on the Sub until I get it back (sorry for the glare on the watch).

Hoping to find a demo minimax after the local events.

I got 30% off my large after the event a few years ago.

They're also called locus. Very loud insects that hatch all at one time. Actually, it's a pretty interesting lifespan. They almost always developed swarms when they are in cycle, especially the 17 year cycle.

I don't have an egg, but do appreciate what they are capable of in the right hands. This year, I believe the large demo eggs (with a handful of accessories) is going for about $750.

You have to pick it up onsite at Stone Mountain on the day of Eggtoberfest (5:30pm)

EGG packages must be picked up on Saturday, October 14, 2017 between 5:30pm and 8:00pm. You cannot take your EGG before that time. You MUST go through the pick-up line to receive your EGG. You must bring receipt & identification for pick-up purposes. Remember, there will be a long line to pick up EGGs, so please be patient … or better yet, go enjoy the park and return between 7 and 8 to avoid long lines.

Your Demo EGG ticket/receipt may be presented for free entrance to Stone Mountain Park on October 14. For free entrance, you must enter from the main gate off Hwy 78; if you already have an Annual Stone Mountain pass you can enter through any gate and proceed to the EGGtoberfest venues.

Once we light 'em we gotta sell 'em at a once-a-year EGGtoberfest special price of $795! These EGGs will have been fired only once at this year’s EGGtoberfest. Price includes entry into Stone Mountain Park, but DOES NOT include EGGtoberfest tickets. EGGtoberfest tickets must be purchased separately. EGGtoberfest Demo EGG package includes Large EGG, Nest, convEGGtor, Big Green Egg Lump Charcoal, Charcoal Starters, Ash Tool and Grid Gripper.

How 'bout a little G.M.T. for Labor Day?

Grilled
Meat
Therapy

First, we gotta get the grill fired up:
IMG_2892.JPG

Then, the meat needs a little attention (EVOO, salt and pepper)
IMG_2891.JPG

Keep a check on the time...no well done beef for me!
IMG_2894.JPG

Looks and smells great:

130 degrees in the middle equals perfection:

Happy Labor Day folks!

My In-laws were visiting for my Son's birthday party, and I grilled some beef Saturday evening. My Wife and In-laws all had fillets, but I went with my personal favorite cut, which is the bone-in ribeye.

First, I needed to get the grill up to temp.

It's a beautiful thing when you combine a good piece of meat, a little EVOO, salt/pepper, and some BGE magic.

I’m definitely very jealous of your skills. I never thought about a skillet on the grill...just fantastic stuff! Thanks for the tips.

Just the bone! I grilled hamburgers and hotdogs earlier today for the actual birthday party, and managed to finish up just before the steady rain moved in. A burger, hotdog, cake, some of my homemade strawberry ice cream, and I'm one fat and happy dude.
