Deep Sea - would you recommend it?

My AD called today to say that they have a Deep Sea Deep Blue (James Cameron) 126660 - coming in and if I’d be interested. What do owners think? Is it a good one or is the heft just a bit too much and makes it annoying to use?

Gorgeous dial and great engineering.
40mm is the perfect size for me, but I do like the JC.

If you don’t want I would be happy to take. I’m on a few waiting lists for the deep blue.

great watch if you can buy it from AD at retail price. Size is big but not an issue for most people.

I have no issues wearing mine. I have a 7.5" wrist and go between Daytona, Royal Oak, GMT and the Deep Blue. Wears a bit heavier than the others but nothing that makes it annoying.

Depends on your tastes.
I absolutely love mine and it’s a lifelong keeper without a doubt.
The dial and engineering are unlike anything else.
The wider bracelet and revamped lugs are minimal changes yet make noticeable improvements in wearability.
Domed sapphire crystal to boot.
Yes, I’m a fan...

I wore the standard dial DSSD as a daily for a while — it definitely has some heft - but as long as it is sized properly - you’ll be fine.

I actually like the heft of it. Very similar to a PM piece.

If you like it -go for it.

I'm a fan as well - even though I have the black dial. The improvements on the new version were a game changer. I have a 7.5" wrist and it's fine.

Buy it if your wrist is over 7.25". Great looking watch.

I have a 7” wrist, think it should be ok as I’ve used a 44mm Royal Oak Offshore in the past.

Hearing about it from happy owners has got me very excited to check this one out! I love the engineering on it very cool, definitely a beast though!

I would unhesitatingly recommend the DSSD. I have owned my black dial 126660 for 2 months now and it has barely left my wrist - I have not worn any of my other watches since owning this beast. I love the D-Blue but personally wanted the classic look, although I get why the JC is in more demand.

Yes, it's a big watch - for a Rolex - but only a mm or two thicker than a Black Bay in house. From my perspective, the watch has fantastic proportions and the way the domed crystal interacts with light is stunning.

There are negatives. It's heavy, but you soon get used to it and as long as you wear it snugly (but not tight) it does not move around or feel top-heavy.

I understand that for some it can be hard to fit under a shirt cuff, but as I mostly wear french cuffs I have never had a problem with this at all.

The Glidelock clasp is superb and goes a long way to making this watch the very comfortable piece that it is.

I am very happy with mine, it has a sense of solidity that very few watches can generate.

I’m a black dial guy myself but the watch is comfortable and special. I never tire of the domed crystal. The improvements of the 126660 are not bad either though I’m not really bothered by the “small” bracelet of my 116660.

Go for it!

It really depends upon how realistic ones expectations are.
As i have both versions of the 116660.
I can highly recommend the DSSD.
But then i am not particularly a fan of the 126660.

It's not for everyone, especially if you have a slim wrist.

Buy only if you think you'll wear it often and gain enjoyment from having it on.

Don't buy because of the hype, or because it's hard to get.

Width of the bracelet and subsequently the wider clasp. They make me appreciate the original design more and accept that they may have got it right the first time.
Who would've thought a mill here or there could make such a difference

Also the Bracelet, Clasp and Bezel has sharper edges on the 126660 and feel like that aspect has been borrowed from the SD43.
With the sharp edges of the Bracelet it doesn't feel right on the wrist and is immediately apparent as soon as one puts it on.
I'm also not a fan of how the bezel feels under the fingers when operating it due to the sharp edges.
The sharp edges and wide Clasp/Bracelet are a departure from Rolex tradition, and i suppose i'm not used to it.

Don't get me wrong.
I wanted to like the overall package when the SD43 came out.
I realize i just can't do the sheer width of the Clasp, and the sharpness of the edges which have been carried over from the SD43.

I Have both Black and Blue and think it’s a great watch. I like the black just a tad bit more.

I agree, it’s heft is close to a PM piece. I enjoy mine. Keep in mind, you have to have man wrists to pull it off, but what a special piece!

I have DSSD 116660 black. This watch is not for everyone. I have 6.5" wrist but have no problem wearing this watch. I like that it's wearing differently from my 40mm Rolex watches. This watch is definitely not boring.

Here are a couple of photos with the Rubber B strap fitted, whilst also utilising the original Rolex clasp.

6.5 Pretty small actually but I don’t find the watch intimidating. I took 3 links out and it’s a perfect fit.
