If you really want the white dial, I would have passed on the black. Sure you can flip it but you won't be doing your AD any favors as it seems like they have treated you well.

If you're going to move on from it anyway, may not hurt to ask the trusted sellers how much you would need to pay to trade this in for a new or excellent condition white one.

I Think the Black Dial Daytona is much sexier and sleeker
looking than the White Dial...

Who says you need a white dial in your collection anyway ?

You my friend have a fantastic collection as is and I personally

If you consider your whole collection a white dial is due. If you consider each watch on its merits the black dial Daytona is outstanding and IMO superior to the white dial. Up to you how to look at it, but you have a ceramic Daytona and if white was choice #1 then black must have been choice #1a.

I'm sure someone has the white who wants the black somewhere. Not the biggest of first world problems LOL.

if you’re really set on the white, then why not try to find a trusted seller willing to work out a deal of black + a little cash?

Trade it back to the dealer for purchase price plus tax. They can sell it “used” for a premium without breaking Rolex AD rules. You then get the next white dial that comes in. Win win.

I like the pre-ceramic in white but the black looks better to me with the black ceramic bezel.

This is another great idea. When I bought my black Daytona, I told the AD that if I ever decided to upgrade or trade it in, that I would contact them first. They didn't ask that of me, but I figured it was the right thing to do with how good they have been to me.

Dump the girlfriend. No girlfriend should ever be telling you what you do with your money.

Go buy the white grey market. Buy the chnr used.

Done.

No brainer! You absolutely made the right call. Both are beautiful watches and in my opinion one is not better than the other. It’s like a beautiful brunette or the smoking blonde, you’re golden either way!
Enjoy it, don’t look back and you know you have a commodity on your hand that you can use towards a white if the opportunity arises. I’ve seen both at a grey and I got the white only because all my dials are black. I honestly think the black is sexier but I’m dont regret my decision because I really wanted to add white to my collection and I don’t come across too many white dials that catch my eye.
Congrats!

Isn't it possible to change the dial to white later at RSC?

U can't pass it up. I been on some bs list for two years. No light at all at the end of the tunnel. Buy black and trade for white if u still have your heart set on it.

Thank you all, some great ideas (re: calling RSC), I think I'll see how I feel about it after a week or a month than decide. It does look better in person though.

I’ve had a white dial since late ‘16 and picked up a black dial a few months ago. At first I though the white was sooooo much better (and as part of a multi-watch collection the one to keep out of the two because most other faces will be black). But I will say the black has grown on me A LOT, and I find myself preferring to wear the black dial more. Both are keepers, but just a thought.

I think you should've waited for the white, since that was the one you really wanted, and also someone who wanted the black could have received yours.

Individually, i like the black dial better: sleeker, stealthier, sharper looking. The white has the contrast and a more elegant look.

I personally wouldn’t have. I’ve got to be in love with the reference to buy it.

I’m sure it’ll grow on you, but IMO you’ll always want the white dial and until you get it, your mind won’t rest. Sorry, I’m with your GF on this one

That said, congratulations and I hope you enjoy it Perhaps it’s a watch your GF can wear down the road if you decide it wasn’t for you.

This is an option as well, if and when I do get a call for the White Daytona (from a different AD) or from my AD (wouldn't officially put me on the list for the White dial yet) but did state I can get one in 2-3 years which is fine I said. Hope the black grows on me!

I did debate for over an hour whether to pick it up or not. At that time it was being presented, it's a shock for sure that you actually have an opportunity to see and buy one of the hottest watches on the planet (after waiting for almost 3 years).

Even though he did state the white might come in Jan or Feb no AD is aware of their future stock, which he agreed when I asked. The AD stated they received or will receive 7 this year (2 remaining) and received 6 last year, but all could show up in Q3 or Q4. To Rolex 6 a year, is approximately one every other month (no matter when received by the AD)...probably within their quota etc (guessing).

I'll see if it grows on me, if it does it will be kept, if not maybe traded for a white dial or bundled with my bluesy (which I hardly wear) and some cash for a 116519LN.

Black ceramic Daytonas are beautiful. I'd definitely rock it until your white ship comes in. It's nice knowing you can always get out of it (more than) whole. I prefer the white, and wouldn't take a black if it meant I could never get a white, but in your situation, you should win either way.

I generally am no fan of settling, but in this case you have a beautiful second choice, and eventually will get your first choice.

Incoming ... (not sure on it though)

Rolex sells many watches due to ‘hype’.

They are great watches, but their marketing machine is better. I suspect a fair few people out there go with the white in terms of it being a ‘safe’ bet and knowing that investment-wise, there may be a slightly bigger market for it, despite liking the black dial as much.

The white face is on everyone’s list. Seemingly, the masses love the white more than the black.

On the old steel bezel versions, white, for me was far nicer. On the new ceramic versions, the black, to me, looks far better, far sleeker, far better.

I don’t like the black bezel, black subdials and white face. To me, not only does it remind me of some of the Tag Heuer watches, but I think it’s also a modern watch harking back to the Daytona’s of old, which are actually vintage. If something is modern, keep it modern.

I don't mean to shove you over the edge with this statement, but your collection is exactly what I am putting together as the end-all-be-all for ME...........but it's missing the white Daytona.

Sorry, I think your heart knows the answer to your question. I'd speak to a trusted dealer here and pay the 500-1000 bucks and swap it. 2 cents
