Really interesting. Thanks for sharing it!

I didn’t realize just how close the manufacturing production lines and processes were. And it finally answered my question about the tolerances built into Tudor’s new in house movements.

Tudor has their own factory? That’s a little bit of a downer...assumed they were built in the same facility as you know...Rolex.

The movement watchworks at Tudor didn’t exist when they were bound to ETA movements. In a way this is the newest watchworks in the industry. The testing facility had always existed - evolving over time.

Thx for sharing.

Does Tudor still use any ETA movements? If they do, I wonder how much secondary tweaking is done in-house?

I believe they switched over to an in house movement.

My Black Bay has the ETA movement.

Yes - the Ranger & various non-diver Black Bay versions, plus of course the Valjoux 7750 in the Fastrider. I’m sure there’s others but can’t be bothered to look them up.

And the work they do to modify the (‘Top’ Grade) ETA 2824-2 is a fair bit - new trivois regulating system, new balance cock/bridge, KIF balance shock instead of Incabloc, no date position (maybe they get that as part of the ebauche though).

Plus they’d then have to regulate the movement again too.

The article seemed to insinuate that it is a single building with a Tudor side and Rolex side. The article says some areas such as the Prototype testing room are shared as well as some labor as Rolex workers help out on the Tudor side during peak demand.

Great article. Thanks for sharing.

"If there are peaks in demand, workers are brought in from Rolex to assist with assembly"
The demand for Tudor watches will explain the supply shortage at Rolex. lol. Stop buying Tudor watches if you want your popular Rolex model sooner.

I guess Midwesterners really are more polite than Coastals. I was just going to ask if he bothered to read the damn article.
