Flip a new BLRO Pepsi ceramic (Basel 2018) for a NOS “M” serial 3186 Pepsi?

Me too, but wanted to hear from the masses. I know the market pricing says yes also, and you can still get ceramic models albeit rare, and the 3186 Pepsi were a very limited watch only available in Z and M (perhaps a few V) serials.

Yes, definitely. One is going to be in production for the foreseeable future. The other is only becoming more rare.

No, I'd have to see the new BLRO in the flesh before I could decide. However, rather than flipping for a way overpriced 16710 with 3186 movement, I'd flip it for a nice example 16710 with 3185 movement and pocket the difference.

If you plan on wearing the M serial I would say no.

Nope, never liked the small crown of the 5 digit GMT's, or the hollow link bracelets, and I love EVERYTHING about the BLRO.
There is the fact that the one you are considering is a 3186 movement and the last of its breed, but if it's NOS, the question becomes: Are you going to leave it NOS in the hope that it continues to appreciate, or are you going to wear it?? Personally, I don't sit on any of my watches. Gotta wear em if I got em! |

No. I don't do safe queens and this watch is far to light and tinny for me to wear day to day. I find the older models surprisingly light and insubstantial feeling, particularly the bracelets.

Is the implication here that you should own the rarer watch but not the technically superior watch? I’d keep the newer one but I guess I’d have to try both on first if I really wanted to make a fair call.

Yes. The new BLRO is a current model. The 3186 long discontinued.

I wouldn't. One reason I never acquired a GMT was the crown. My first Rolex was a 16610and I went into AD fully intent on buying a TT GMT. Couldn't do it, bought a TT Sub.
When I starting getting the bug again, the 6 digit TT GMT fit the bill and I got it. Since then I've also acquired a BLNR. |

Not exactly. I was implying that if you are considering both (each has its own merits, of course), then taking the opportunity to get the one that's harder to replace makes sense.

No, I wouldn't.
A NOS 16710 Pepsi 3186 is unwearable and I don't have watches just to sit on a shelf.

The 3186 is in the BLNR. I would hardly call that long discontinued. If you mean the watch as a whole has been long discontinued, well then you are right, but that argument doesn't hold very well because a '67 911 has been discontinued for a long time as well, doesn't mean there's a shortage of people who want it.

Wise words Larry. I agree 100%. They’re meant to be worn. OP should just get a used 16710 to wear. But they’re so similar so maybe not. Hmmm. Decisions... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This is a hypothetical question. I don’t have either watch, but kind of want one of the last Pepsi’s to wear.

I would sell for 16710....but no way for the 3186 variant. I don't believe in that hype.

Flip a beautiful and awesome daily watch for something that sits in a box that I hope appreciates in value? No thanks. Not why I like watches.

If you don’t need to wear a GMT - and are looking for future gains selling the NOS Pepsi later - then make the trade.
Otherwise stand pat with your GMT-C Pepsi - it’ll give you the correct time just as well as that other one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
