116621 YM RG vs. 126711CHNR GMTII, comparison ?

Dear fellow WIS,

With reference to the topic matter and building on some previous threads ("The Most Beautiful Rolex Two-Tone for Men"), has anyone done a direct comparison between the chocolate dial TT and the new root beer GMT ?

Am considering a new TT Rolex, but have not seen either in the steel yet, so some input / considerations would be much appreciated indeed !

Cheers,

Pieter

The Rootbeer's GMT complication + ceramic bezel are way more practical and useful than what the YM offers. If you're looking for maximum rose gold, then the YM takes it.

I def prefer the rootbeer, plus it's all new and spiffy right now :P

I would have to disagree here..unless you were a traveler, I can't see how the GMT would be more practical or useful.

I would concede though, that the ceramic bezel would be more durable.

I've never been a TT fan, but both of these watches have changed my mind. Great looking pieces. I'm a bit of a GMT fanboi, so I'd lean towards the CHNR

The GMT should have had a chocolate dial.

The gmt looks nicer overall imo, but the yacht-master's case is just beautiful. Along with the Daytona's case, it's the best looking in the whole line up, again imo.

They are both beautiful, but the GMT is the winner imho

Well said, but for a lot of us that travel, the GMT is the winner every day!

Besides, the CHNR is the latest and greatest. Lets be honest for a minute, the Yachtmaster has never been as "in demand" as the GMT's in any form / material / era, etc.

Both are stunners, though and while I prefer the GMT, the Yachtmaster would be a welcome addition in my small stable in that color scheme.

I own the CHNR and had the TT YachtMaster out at an AD recently. Honestly the YM is beautiful in person. Just stunning. My personal feeling was that it was much more of a commitment visually though, if that makes any sense? The CHNR is a bit more subtle (barely) and a bit more conservative (barely) and a bit less dressy (barely). That was my opinion anyway, seeing them both "live". I loved the TT YM but I think if I was going to get one it would be SS with Rhodium and the blue highlights. If you like making a splash (YachtMaster... see what I did there? Haha... ) then that YM would be a fantastic choice.

The black dial of the GMT CHNR gives it more visual versatility in my opinion, while retaining the warmth from the rose gold. The YM is definitely warmer hued. Having a timing bezel form the YM is a plus. Personal preference at the end of the day.

Both winners.

Can’t lose. So go for the one you get the best deal on.

You really can’t go wrong with either of these. The GMT has the extra complication, but the timing bezel on the Yachtmaster is a better feature for my lifestyle. But I’m mainly interested in looks more than functionality. The GMT will go with both brown and black ensembles, so if it’s going to be your only watch then that might be the route to take. Personally I want them both but I’m on the waitlist for the BLRO so it’d have to be the yachty for me.

How about the black dial RG tt YM? Best of both worlds. Rose gold, so hot right now.

I'd go CHNR; the bezel on the YM is too easily damaged.

711 CHRN is a better choice. Although its TT it would keep its value better.

I've never been a 2 tone guy but when I saw that YM in person, it got me thinking I just might be. I have not seen the GMT in person but suspect I will have the same reaction. I doubt I will buy either but I think I would struggle to decide between these too if I did. If the GMT was on a jubilee - it would be that hands down.

I had the same dilemma between these two watches. I ended up going with the CHNR. What did you choose?

Went to pick up the CHNR, but left with the YM. Only I went with the black face. You can’t go wrong, but in the metal, the YM did it for me.

The chocolate dial is gorgeous but the bezel is a little paler than I'd like on the YM, the CHNR's darker shade is nicer to me, plus the durability of the bezel makes it a very attractive proposition.

I would choose neither. I like the way they look but so many other watches are in front of these two for purchase I will probably never get around to owning them.

Apologies for reverting late !

So in the end, I decided to go with a pre-owned 116713LN and save myself a couple of grand ... really like this piece, hasn't left my wrist since taking delivery last Monday
