Yes, you will have a difficult time sourcing one if you do not have a relationship with an AD. They are easily available via gray dealers and trusted sellers here on the forum. You will have to decide if the wait is worth it, as if you don’t have a strong relationship with an AD, it could take a couple years or pay a huge premium and get it sooner via gray

If you are asking this question, you will have to buy it for way over retail price on the secondary market.

Essex is not a good place to start your Rolex journey, too many buyers here, so I think you'll have to save up and buy from a grey like Watchfinder. I'd start with a Subc myself, easier to get and much cheaper.

Welcome. Very tough to source in today's market without resources unless willing to pay over and above.

I agree Essex is certainly the 2nd hardest place to acquire a hot Rolex outside of London.
You have 3 choices Buy a precious metal watch and a datejust from AD held stock and maybe trump the waiting list Or wait 1-2 years+ Or buy grey for a HUGE premium A bonus option, pickup a mint 16710 Sorry to say. It’s the state of affairs for rolexes in 2018. A date sub back in 2014 was showing a 2-6 month wait list. Ocassionally you’d see them in windows too. You’d certainly see blue and green subs, TT GMT even BLNR in windows. These days they are all running wait lists. It’s a hard time to collect in 2018. |

Unfortunately times now are tough! You need to have a “good buying history” with an AD to get one! And it will be some waiting time as Rolex sends very few of that watch and ADs save it to their “best customers” Otherwise you will have to pay a very hefty premium

I've noticed some seller prices are coming down slowly on the private market. There are or were a couple for 18k here in the for sale section. That seems to be the only way to purchase one in this lifetime.

Most ADs do have a list. If you want to be on the list, you should begin by going into the AD and making a physical appearance. Calling an AD, will get you nowhere. It may take a year or two, but prices will cool down (most likely) and the list will get smaller as people acquire the watch, lose interest, be offered the piece at a time they cannot buy it, or many other reasons. Or if you are inpatient, pay the premium and buy from a reseller/gray. Some things in life are not worth waiting for, so you pay up and enjoy them now. Happy hunting ⌚️

I bought a $14K+ watch in the last year from my local AD and they won't even put me on the waiting list here in New England. I just don't see how anyone is going to walk into an AD and get added to the list for the most popular release from this past year without spending a lot of money. My real question is whether or not the thread is a troll. The new GMT Pepsi is hardly a novice Rolex buyer's watch, imho. Hardly a first watch choice. Just saying.

What did your local AD’s say when you asked them?

Wow you’re late to the Rolex party.
Maybe buy a Datejust or Oyster Perpetual or a different brand watch from your local AD and start building a relationship with them. Then maybe they’ll let you on their waiting list for the Pepsi which will be a few years wait minimum. Alternatively as mentioned, Tudor make some great models. Final option, forget all that and go grey. Good luck |

Hi
Not a troll, Im after the pepsi because I like it. Surely that's why rolex have different models as everyone has different flavours. |

The problem is they don't nowadays, and when resales are this high they are even coming over from Omega and Breitling and the stockmarket etc, there is just so much demand so you have to pay the market price or choose a less in play model.

I would go for the Tudor GMT or a 16710 or 1675, all more easily available than the "current" Pepsi GMT

1675 is just lovely but look at that Tudor. It’s beautifully executed, just like my 58; I just wish their gmt was based on the 58 case. The Tudor was my fav gmt release this year, I prefer it to the Rolex. Like you said, a bargain and easy ish to get. |
