Explorer II 16570: Tritium vs. Rehaut
TRF Community,
Between an Explorer II 16570 Tritium dial and Explorer II 16570 Rehaut w/ 3186 movement, which do you prefer? I'm trying to decide between the two and would love your opinion. On one hand, I love how a Tritium dial grows with you and evolves over time. On the other hand, it seems like the Rehaut version had a much smaller production run and might demand a higher price tag if/when I decide to sell or trade up. As of now, it doesn't seem like there's a massive price difference between the two. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts! All the best, Derrick |

I don't think that anybody is, or will be, holding out for an engraved rehaut.

I personally prefer the look of the engraved rehaut.

I have one of each, and I like both, but the 3186/engraved has been going up in asking price a lot over the last year, much more than the older models. I've seen them pushing $7k online lately and a NOS was recently offered here for $10k.

Right, 3186s are in demand, IMHO.

3186 here, though an old school Tritium with lug holes is a close tie.

For me it is lug holes + SEL. I hate end link marks on the back of vintage rolexes.
I don't see what is interesting about 3186. |

Late models have the AR coating on the cyclops which I like.

I'm ambivalent for the rehaut, but it seems that the 3186 commands a premium. Mine has the 3186, but is a Z serial without the engraved rehaut.

I thought I’d bring back this thread. I ended up with a Z series engraved rehaut 3186 but the hour markers are creamy. Does the Luminova do that? I keep looking for details but havent uncovered anything. Any thoughts?
