What happens to GMT parts?

I understand the GMT has been discontinued by Rolex? My question is, what happens to all the GMT owners out there who need parts replaced? Will we still be able to get new parts in RSC? Let's say I have to get new hands, dials, or movement parts, will RSC still be able to do a proper/competent service? I know my GMT is due for service soon and it's been bugging me ever since I found out the line has been discontinued. I keep delaying the service because RSC manila is currently in renovation.

Where did you hear that the gmt is being discontinued? That would be about as likely as Rolex discontinuing the sub.

Unless Mr Dufour has a forum account and is posting... yeah I'd say you (or your source) is probably wrong.

After making use of the search feature of the site i finally found where I read about the discontinuity. The post was referring to the dial. So sorry for the misinformation.

What does it mean if a dial is discontinued? If RSC deems my dial needs to be replaced, what would they replace it with? Would it be possible to bring back the luminosity with a replaced dial?

About 99% of what you read on the internet about any company's marketing and sales strategy is complete and utter tosh. Also avoid anything on price increases, that is the lowest form of so called marketing intelligence going.

Complete and utter boswellocks plenty of parts for all the GMT11 16710 116710 for the next 30 plus years. But dials/hands with say Tritium pre 1998 watches if needed will be replaced with Luminover lume dials/hands.

They will be replaced with whatever parts Rolex has at its disposal which means more likely a newer dial

The GMT Master was discontinued back in 1999, the 16700 was the last of them; the GMT II (non ceramic) was discontinued in 2007, the 16710 was the last of that era.

Rolex used to advertise that they kept parts for a minimum of 25 years after that particular item was discontinued. However, many of the movement parts in the various movements are the same.

Still, even if Rolex does no longer make parts, like the older 15xx movements, there are several high quality aftermarket manufacturers who do, and will continue to make, parts.

Phew, thats lucky! Just having a new dial and hands fitted to my 2001 Coke GMT at the local RSC!

I hope they haven't fitted a platty YM dial in there instead! Can you imagine?

Thank you all for your posts, and again I apologize for not being specific, I meant GMT I (ref. 1675). I just wanted to know what would happen to the parts of my particular 1675 if, for some reason, a part is no longer available. Again, thank you for your time.

Pffff...What? My source...who's a very reliable source I might add, has not mentioned this to me?! He did tell me that all the rumors about the SDC4K being discontinued are wrong. According to her (or is it him? Kinda gender neutral so hard to say! ) Anyway...Pat says it's 100% confirmed that it's the Daytona that's discontinued! So...if you don't get that ceramic Daytona 500 by Basil 2017, then your prolly never getting one!

Also...the bad news is an across the board price increase to hit the U.S only...but the good news is it's .02 Cents.
