116610LN vs 116710BLNR.. Conflicted!

I currently have an Oyster Perpetual (214270 - blue dial) and an Explorer (214270). I've been thinking on my next watch and I'm conflicted between a Submariner (116610LN) and GMTII (116710BLNR). I figure since I already have two non-date models, I want to get at least one watch with a date. The issues I'm having:

If I get a Submariner, wouldn't that be too similar to my Explorer?

I really like the appeal of the Glidelock clasp. One of the reasons I got the Explorer (second watch) was because I couldn't stand the zero adjustment that came with the OP. As a result, the OP hasn't been used in months and has been relegated to the watch box until it gets flipped (maybe).

I have a 6.5 - 6.75" wrist--will the BLNR fit better than the case of the Sub?

I do very limited travel, so would the benefit of having the GMT hand be lost on me? (I suppose you could argue the depth rating on the Sub would be lost on me too as I don't do any diving.. )

I feel like I should really have a Sub in my collection... perhaps the LV is an option. But, wouldn't that clash with a lot of different clothing?

It's a hard decision..

Based on what you have, I think the collection is too much the same.

I would go with the BLNR instead of the Sub. The Explorer is very close to the Sub, while the BLNR has a splash of the color along with a similar case to the Sub.

I would move the OP for a lighter dial colored watch for variety.

...

That’s just my personal preference. Yes, the Sub is an iconic watch and a must have have. But I certainly won’t add it if it will make my collection too similar. You need some variety or you’ll get bored of it and end up sticking to one watch again.

I have a roughly 6.25 inch wrist, and my BLNR fits fine. It has a nice low profile which works for me, so I think your wrist size would have no problem. Try one on to be sure!

Regarding if the GMT hand will be lost on you, depends really. I use it to keep time of other offices I work with, and family abroad mostly. Would you use it for that? Maybe just having a cool complication is all it needs to be?

Either way, the BLNR is a great looking watch, goes with a lot of clothes/situations, and I don't think you can go too far wrong with it :)

Without considering what you already have, i would say submariner but in your case a blnr will be more suitable.

Very Accurate. My vote would be Sub.

Either would work in your collection, Explorer and OP are more similar to each other than the Sub/GMT is to either of them. LV is a great option, I don't own one but the consensus here is that it works with any clothing.

I vote 116610LN. No brainer. The glidelock clasp makes total difference for me and I'm not a BLNR fan.

I'd go with the sub myself!

I have a SubC and a BLNR. Both are keepers, can't go wrong with either.

BLNR as it is more functional for my lifestyle (GMT hand), and the smaller case back makes it more comfortable. I also prefer a splash of color. YMMV.

Buy the BLNR; flip the OP and the Explorer and get a Sub.
