Vintage Omega 2864 Help
Hello Omega watch enthusiasts
I’ve always lusted after the pie pan and jumbo Omega vintage watches and in 2015 I acquired this 1950s watch on eBay. I probably paid too much for it at £800 back then but I’ve always admired the dial and the contrast of the gold indices against the black gilt dial so justified the price. I wondered if anyone here can help me to answer the following questions: - Is the dial original? - How do I determine the exact year of manufacture from the serial number? - It’s running a bit slow so I’ll need to get it serviced soon. Where in a London would you recommend for a service? Thanks in advance. |

You might have better luck over on the Omega forums - they really know their vintage Omegas.
They are going to ask you for better pictures in natural lighting though. You will want some straight-on photos and make sure the watch hands aren't covering the 'Omega' text or 'Swiss Made' text at the bottom of the dial. They will be able to tell you if the dial is original v.s. redial based on print clarity, index alignment, etc. Quote:
I'm not familiar enough with these models to add any input but even if it's not 100% original it's still a beautiful watch in my opinion! Hope that helps. Good luck with your research. |

The photos aren't very good.
There is nothing that looks wrong with the dial from photos. But black dials are very unusual almost all of them were white during this time. So always skeptical if it is in Black. The age of the watch can be looked up fairly easy just search Google for Omega serial number year. And look up the serial number that is on your movement.
