Icon6 Gmt Gaining!!

My 16710 has kept amazing accuracy since I syncronised it last November.
However, it has started to gain just a few seconds a week over the past 2 weeks.

I believe it may be because I now take the watch off my wrist at bedtime and place it on edge facing me on the locker. The reason I'm doing this is because the nights here have become very humid here and wearing it all night like I used to is a bit sweaty and uncomfortable.

Does anyone know if leaving the watch resting for 6 hrs each night affects the regulation?

Cheers

Steve

Well in the same position will slightly, you could see if your watch responds to different positions at night on table.Crown up may gain a few secs/crown down loose.Dial up/dial face down, don't forget a normal day has 86,400 seconds, even a watch that runs five minutes fast, or slow each day has an accuracy of over 99.6 percent!. A Rolex mechanical watch that gains or loses about nine seconds a day or about a minute a week still has a breathtaking precision of over 99.99 per cent.

...place it on edge...

Those are the key words, Steve. Your watch is so damn scared being placed on the edge, his pulse rate has gone up and you know what happens when the pulse rate goes up. The heart beats faster, the blood rushes quicker through the veins and arteries....and just about everything goes UP.

So, it's really a no brainer. Keep the watch on your wrist.

OK JJ it is on my wrist right now

I am still going to take it off at bedtime until this heat goes away.

Don't tell me you wear your Crosswind while you sleep? You might clout yourself or your good lady in the face while you are dreaming about something

Steve

BTW I saw a nice Crosswind, Limited edition black dial. Have a look at it on eBay. 5077564889

I received a "sheet" on how to regulate my Rolex.
According to my AD, leaving watch Crown Down at night will slow it down a bit, leaving it face up will cause it to gain a bit.

You're right, John. Also crown UP will make the movement gain!! But, remember, this works differently with different watches....not always the same rule of thumb.

yes but not all of us have had white wool suits surgically attached to our bodies. Some of us would feel cold at night in the buff

Does it work the same way north of the equator as south? In the north, should the crown be DOWN to make the movement gain?

Not desparate at all. It's too much stress to remain in the top spot for too long. You'll see. James will start to get desparate to maintain his status and eventually he will go off the deep end. You'll see signs of his impending breakdown when he starts bashing you for continally posting pics of the YM and the Crosswind.
