****Alert Photo Contest For 2011****

With the events of last week looming over our hobby like a dark cloud, I think we could use a boost in morale. Let's bring the "focus" back to what sparked our passion...beautiful vintage Rolex watches. Last year's photo contest with the Nato Strap give away was a huge success. This year I would like to sponsor the contest. I already have some volunteers to be judges, but could use some more. For now I see the rules as follows:

1. Five categories: Submariner, Sea Dweller, GMT, Daytona, and Explorer I and II.

2. There will be a limit of two pictures per category per person. So if you have all five of those watches, you may submit 10 pictures.

3. Pictures have to be taken by the person that is submitting them. If you submitted the picture last year, and it won, then it is not eligible this year.

4. If you are a judge for a specific category, you may submit an entry for that category; however, you are not eligible to win. I know that kind of stinks.

5. All photographs may be submitted beginning on November 20, 2011 and will conclude on December 3, 2011. No photographs posted after December 3, 2011 will be judged. That gives everyone 2 weeks to give it their best "shot". This way winners should get their prizes prior to the holidays.

6. The winner in each category can PM me, and I will endeavor to have shipped to their address a Maratac Nato Strap from http://www.broadarrow.net/maratac.htm of their choosing. I have no financial interest in broad arrow whatsoever, but have purchased from them and find them to be reliable in their products and shipping. If the winner does not find a suitable strap there, provided the cost is not substantially different, I would be happy to purchase a strap from a different website and have it shipped to their address.

7. Because I am human and may have left something out or overlooked something, I reserve the right to modify slightly the rules to accommodate some unforeseen circumstances.

So get out the cameras and get busy. I and the judges look forward to seeing some great pictures of your vintage Rolex watches.

Maybe we could take the winners of the catergories and create a Rolex Forum calendar? Obviously 10 winners then 2 runner ups or a combo of all on 2 other months? Let me know i am willing to create it if people are willing to buy them/send me original photos?

John what a generous timely idea

I have the sub and GMT covered, so I guess I better buy a SD, Daytona and Explorer prior to the contest - so I can enter all categories

I am sure between all the great watches and photo skills here on TRF that we can come up with 12 incredible pictures. You can count me in for one of the calendars.

Sounds good. Once the contest is over i will get the 12 photos and create a TRF 2012 2013 desk calendar for people who are interested. Thanks and good luck to all who enter!!
