Seiko SKX007 Power Reserve

I recently bought a brand new SKX007 for work. I usually set it some time between 8-9pm when my overnight shift starts and I take it off at 7.30am when I am about to go to bed. Everyday when I pick it up again at around 8pm I find that it has always stopped working. This is obviously not the case with my Sub, Reverso, Speedy or even my other Seiko snk063j5. Am I missing something or do I need to return it back?

Your wearing duration and activity is probably not enough to wind the watch. I get roughly the same outcome too for similar situations. Remember your other watches can be hand wound to get the power reserve, but not the SKX.

Idea

Can you wear it for an entire weekend or whichever days that you are off of work to build up the power reserve? I suspect the only other solutions are to wear it more or reset it when it stops.

Bumping this thread instead of creating a new.

I'm new to the SKX and just bought a "new to me" modded SKX007 off FleaBay. I love it, and my Rolex has taken a back seat. I wore it all day yesterday, took if off around 5 PM. Then went to grab it this morning around 9 AM and noticed it was 4 minutes slow. But for the 3 days prior, it was working fine (I may have de-wristed it later in the evening though)

Is this normal or do I need to contact the eBay seller? Thanks

If you wore it 3 days straight and it stopped running within 14 hours of no use then yes you should contact the seller.

I bought my skx007 about 10 years ago

Last 4/ 5 years its been my holiday watch so will wear it 2 weeks in May/ 2 weeks Dec. I just pull it out the drawer/ set the time/ give it a few shakes/ keeps perfect time & doesn’t stop throughout the holiday. Great watch - one of my best buys ever.

Surprised that it’s stopping after a 12 hour wear the following day but as others have said maybe just need to build up the reserve. Maybe wear it as your one & only for a few weeks to see if cures the issue

Seiko SKX007 Power Reserve

Mine is 1 minute fast after 6-7 days and runs well over 36 hours if taken off

I love my SKX, but I must admit the power reserve if kind of inconsistent. Some times it's great and other times I pick it up in the morning after a couple days wear and it's completely stopped. I have considered having the movement upgraded, but would rather keep it in the original form. Sort of sentimental to me and it has been my beater for the last 6 years. At this point has been the one watch that has accompanied me around the world time after time. Sure I take others also, but I always put the 007 on my wrist as I leave for the airport.

I have some that seem quite long while others don't make it thru the next day.

I think I've had my skx007 now for over fifteen years, without any problems. And over the past few months I've noticed that the power reserve is now down to about 10 hours or less. And I just had it serviced about two years ago.

I'm not happy about that because this is my travel watch. And I don't like the idea of setting it down for the evening and having to wake up and re-set.

At home, my solution is easy. I now just keep it on a watch winder at night, so it's always wound and ready to go.

How frustrating!

Your thread bumped up again. Did you get a new SKX from the seller? If so, How's it treating you?

I have a 009 wristed as I type this. Dollar for dollar, one of my best regulars ever.
