Are you content and happy ?

My question to all : are you happy and content..?

Im 35 years old , ive got many aims and ambitions in life and im very ambitious. Im yet to achieve my dreams and ive achieved some of my dreams..

That being said i know what i want in life and im getting there my way. Ive figured i dont want too many things but i want the best one thing of each..

Example: i have one pair of good shoes for work. One for a walk and a pair of jandals. I dont need more than that.

Ive got clothes which i wear.. something which doesnt get worn i give it away.

I just have one car which i use everyday. I have 1 motorcycle..

I have one house to live in.

Ive got air in my lungs.. im living without any diseases and ive got food on the table..

I feel grateful to be alive everyday. I dont believe in god but i believe in being a good human.

Also i was suffering from a personal sickness since 1.5 years and ive healed myself by losing weight doing exercise every day, eating the right food and taking care of myself.

I just want to say to everyone that don't lose hope.. always believe in yourself.

I feel ive found the answers to life..

Im happy and content... Are you..

Are you content and happy ?

I am content, I am happy.

However, I believe maintaining and achieving goals is a necessary aspect of my life as it gives direction. Being sedentary both in mind and body leads to decay and eventual death.

Nobody spending time on a Rolex forum has any reason to not be at least content.

I’m happy and blessed even after 2020.

Yes.
Generally happy and hilariously contented.

As you grow older you'd realize most if not all clichés are true:
Happy wife, happy life.

And still I'd say its no better to be safe than sorry

It's all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconveniences we have to deal with.

If I were really happy, I wouldn't be sitting in this damn forum or any other forum.

Happy but not always content.

Actually, not a bad way to be.

I became a lot more happy after my daughter was born. But I won’t be content until shes of adult age, I feel like there’s always something to do ‘better’ until that time happens.

Ok ... so truthfully, I’d like it if the Bills won the a super bowl, and Leafs won the Stanley Cup. That would be contentment.

If it happened in the same year I’d probably see pigs fly

Yes for the absolute most part, but I like to have more than 2 pairs of shoes.

Without some elements of struggle can man ever truly be happy or content ?

Also not coveting one’s neighbour has a lot of truth to it

110% happy! I’ve been blessed; however, I’m not content. Ben Franklin once said, show me a man who’s content & I’ll show you a loser.
I’ve adapted that quote/philosophy & as a result, I’ve not grown up yet, nor have I stopped living life to the nth degree.
Life’s short, push yourself to succeed at everything you do.
As Dr. Ferdinand Porsche once said; If you’ve not failed in life, you haven’t tried hard enough.

I am extremely happy and content. At 58 years old, I’ve met my goals, and will keep trying to move to new goals.

These days there isn’t a morning I don’t wake up smiling and excited, despite what’s going on in the world.

What more could I ask for?

Great question OP, if every thing stayed status quo till the day I died I can say I would be happy and content. I am aiming for ecstatic and elated though. Where we are in life is pretty great, i however grew up in such a position where I will probably never stop trying to make a buck. It’s fun for me at this point and as long as I continue to provide a pleasant and comfortable life for my family, I am happy. There is always more out there though, I want so much for everyone around me I will die getting it for them. So I guess I will be more content then.

I don't really think about it.

I haven't looked at my navel in a long time. Could be full of lint.

This doesn't sound like something Franklin would say. Do you have a source?

After the loss of a loved one there is a sense of sadness that I will never shake. I am happy with my family and our lives but this sense of happiness is not the same as it should be.

You are wise to avoid accumulating "stuff", it bogs you down in many ways. I can't get on board with just one car but do try to avoid duplicating too many things.

Just one thing, get a second pair of shoes for work and some trees. They last longer and smell better if they have a day off to dry out.

I am trying to simplify in anticipation of moving in a few years and clearly have too many of the little things...for example, this drawer has my "good" screwdrivers...the other half are spread around the basement, house, vehicles...I use them and have the space but how did I get to well over 100?

Oh, yes I am mostly content.

I have always judged my "happiness" level by how fast time goes by. When I graduated college, I hated my first job. The week went slow and the weekend seemed to speed by quickly. That is when I started thinking about this concept.

My life now is a blur. My professional life is strong. I recently turned down a very large promotion. Why? Because the day to day functions of the role do not excite me. I prefer my current position that provides variety and is closer to the action.

My wife is great, my sons are grown living on their own starting families and making a positive contribution to society.

So by my definition, yes. I am happy. But content is another story....I will always want more experiences.

My soon to be 18 year old goes to college this year. As long as she gets into a university and major of her choice, I’ll be very happy.

Being contented is an elusive goal but I’m told some have achieved it, or so they tell themselves
