Oyster bracelet on DJ pops open!
I have an M series DJ with an Oyster bracelet. The clasp pops open rather easily (e.g. when clapping, washing dog, etc...).
Is this common or can there be something wrong with mine? Thanks! |

Most likely: The folding clasp has been bent and needs to be tweaked. Find a watchmaker near you and they should be able to correct.

Ok open the watch band with watch hanging down band up with buckle in left hand the folding part closest to the buckle bend it in the middle slightly in the direction of it's bend then close to see it tighter if it needs more bend it a little till it closes tightly. Let me know how you make out this is how it's done. Rikki

Pretty cool... I was able to tighten up my Sub clasp by following the instructions. And I thought I needed to bend the little tabs to make it latch

Rikki: Thanks for the tip, I just tried it on my 16220 and it worked perfect. Without the tip, I would have bent the tabs.
Cheers Wayne |

Its a very simple fix...
Very carefully bend the two "U" shaped parts of the bracelet that are connected to the links. They collapse on one another, and through gradual wear they get bent outward. Just a VERY slight and careful bend will re-seat the buckle. The DJ's use the Jubilee style bracelet which does not utilize a safety clasp on the buckle as the Oyster bracelets. making them more prone to accidental release. Lastly the buckle its self should have a crisp "click" or bite on the end spring bar. If the buckle is not clicking then I agree you should go to a RSC and have it corrected. It will cost you no more than $100.00 bucks to have the bracelet cleaned and serviced. A 100 bucks is a heck of a lot better than losing the watch at doggie day care... No big deal.. |

Tagging this because my Date has the same problem. Can someone please post pics showing what parts need bending? I have an old style from 2006.
Thanks
