It’s just funny. I’m not a millionaire. But the Tag did cost 5k. Just made it seem like I won it from a crane game a rest stop.

Clickbait titles....again. The fact you are posting this means the guy got under your skin over a watch and now you are fishing for posts to feel better. Jeezz, wtf. Go safe space or Get a 5711, go back to the store every day, wait for the guy so you can dangle that Patek in his face. That will teach him!

I'm not sure I follow... A guy with a really nice watch walks over to you, a guy with a good watch, and says, 'hey, our watches are similar!' And your upset?

Isn't that akin to a guy in a Ferrari stopping next to a Miata and saying, "Hey, our cars look pretty similar!"

Sounds more like a compliment than an insult.

OP felt the guy said it sarcastically, which seems to have hurt his feelings. As the world is today, everyone dwells on minutiae and rushes to social media platforms in an effort to have strangers comfort them in their dire times of need *sarcasm*.

In that case, let's all hug and sing kumbaya to help their fragile sense of self.

He could have...

(A) been trying to just strike up a watch discussion

(B) been genuinely suggesting the two are similar

(C) been trying to just show off his Daytona

I suspect it was (c) but then again I tend to assume the worst in people, a bad trait I know!!

given the state of prices, daytona >> Tag in desirability. Doesnt mean that one should be rude about it though.

Dunno buddy, sorry to hear about this and the disrespect you experienced, but if I had a ceramic Daytona on my wrist I would feel like a God and probably want to let everyone know how awesome I was! Alas I only have the steel bezel version and that hurts!

OP, For all it matters, that’s a nice TAG you got and I’m one of the rarest that think Daytona sucks big time and it’s just a hyped up trinket. Even Rolex values it at what it’s worth and produces less of it!

Don't sweat it.

There's nothing wrong with your TAG.

It looks nice and it does what it's designed to do.

The only other criterion by which to judge your watch is whether or not you like it.

What a strange coincidence, a guy just posted in the general forum that he tried to strike up a conversation with a guy with a Tag at a Whole Foods while wearing a Daytona, but the guy with the Tag gave him a weird look and made him uncomfortable, so he walked away.

He sounds like a douche. and he probably paid through the nose for it from a dealer.

I have 4 Tag's and love them all. Its the brand that got me into mechanical watches.

Ah, so it was you I tried to chat to the other day?!

I was really hoping you would like to talk about my Daytona but it seemed you weren’t interested.

You know, I cried myself to sleep that night and have been thinking about it ever since.

Well you can hardly blame him. I mean it is just a Tag.

And you were in Whole Foods.

STEP UP YOUR GAME.

I'd find it annoying. Dude sounds like he was a condescending douche and a jabroni. Despite the general civility suggested because this guy is pathetic, there's nothing really worth doing. Good to know that certain towns in Bergen County are still festooned with bozos. Cool watch by the way.
