I learned something new......

I called the NYC RSC and inquired whether the replacement crystal on a 16570, Expl II "always" comes with the LEC at the 6 o'clock position. The CS rep told me that it is random, some do, some do not.

Have never heard of one not at 6 o'clock. I just got a replacement crystal on mine, it is at 6. Also, contrary to what you read here, there is no 'S' for Service on the replacement crystal crown.

They stopped putting the S through the LEC many years ago, and yes its possible that the LEC is not always at the 6 position, especially after service, and on non date models.

The other nice thing about a replacement crystal on an older 16570 is the new no-glare cyclops, makes a big difference.

I did notice how much easier it is to read the date.
