Had some lovely Burgs, as well as the always kickass Allemand Reynard, last night. Not a clunker amongst the bunch. The '07 Comte Liger-Belair Echezeaux was really darn good. The '05 Roumier Bonnes-Mares was a brawny beast that took awhile to loosen up from its oaky grip, but it will be stellar many years from now.

Actually ended up buying a bottle of the Dominus. The other two were just over $500 a bottle which isn't that bad either.

That is a GREAT idea.

‘13s are really good - but they need to be left in The cellar at least another handful of years minimum. Especially that Dominus. Or decant them for a full day.

I opened a 95 (Dominus)a cpl months back and it was AMAZING!!

I have one so far, it's long been forgotten towards the back of the storage area! I don't have the cajones to open it for a few years. I'll make do with other vintages.

Nice -- big fan of the Turley Dragon (well, most Turley's to be honest).

A lovely Cabernet Sauvignon from the Frankland River region of Western Australia.
With 6 years under it's belt it is drinking at it's best. Not expensive at $18. but a quality red that ticks most of the boxes for me as a quaffer with a couple of hours to breathe.
Good fruit and depth of flavour, and just enough acid to keep it lively on the palate. Some subtle oak and nicely balanced tannins. 3 more to enjoy.

I stopped in Calistoga and Napa on my way back from visiting family yesterday and picked up my club wines.

After about a year I ended up moving to the 3 cases/year club level at Bryan Arden in Calistoga. Out of their "vanity show vines" they have at the winery location in Calistoga vine #17 is now named "Edward" after my cat who had his 1st birthday yesterday.

As for the wine itself we had another stop after so had to get in and out quick. Tried the 2012 Napa cab, it's not nearly as inky as some of their earlier vintages and seemed maybe a bit acidic. I think it probably isn't ready to drink quite yet.

2015 Sangiovese is good to go, delicious and fairly light. Would be great with grilled salmon.

Haven't really drank white from them, but it was hot (100+ F) and they had Sauvignon Blanc which is a varietal I generally enjoy and drink quite often as I eat a lot of fish/shellfish. It was actually really nice, I'd say a tad bit more fruit and maybe a hair less dry than something like Cakebread; they're selling it undiscounted for $35/bottle so it's on the pricey side but I think it stands up at that price point.

I went to Napa on Friday.
I have about 20 bottles on the way from Pine Ridge, Chimney Rock, Clos du Val, and Black Stallion.

Sipping on a 2016 Terre Nere Etna Rossi right now. I opened it Friday night and it was a bit of a disappointment, but tonight it is drinking well. I bought these as daily drinkers but may have to hold them for a bit. Last night we enjoyed a Franny Beck Pinot Noir rose and a 2013 Levet Les Journaries, a great wine but needs a few more years in the bottle.

Finally got my wine locker at our “cricket” club (after a 3 year wait list). Dropped off a case of mish mosh wine. Have 6 more spots to fill.
Just got these pics from our Somm after he categorized it all.

Mines the one in the middle with no name tag (on order)

Glad to hear it! Have you had (or do you have any of) the 2007 Cote Bonneville DuBrul? We enjoyed that as well, but didn't feel it was worth the price.

Opened the 2009 Carriage House tonight and really enjoyed it -- esp after a few hours in the decanter. Heading out tomorrow to buy another bottle or two while we still can!

I have only had the 2007 Cote Bonneville DuBrul and have a few left. We decanted for a few hours as well. Haven't tried the 2009.

Simply...The Wine Thread

Really enjoyed this Red Blend for the first time last night. We love Laird Family Cabs and this was fantastic too. We will definitely be drinking more...

2013 Laird Jillian's Blend Napa Valley Red Wine

Cherry, Cocoa, Leather, Espresso and Spices
93|JS

An alluring nose of charred tobacco and fine leather leads way to a tannin filled palate complimented by the flavors of Bing cherries, dusty blackberries and unsweetened cocoa. The bright lively finish of leather, espresso and baking spices leaves you craving your next sip. Structured to last this is sure to be a gem of your cellar. 2,385 cases made.

A blend of cabernet sauvignon (60%), syrah (20%), merlot (14%), malbec (4%) and petit verdot (2%). Drink in 2018.
