What should i do
So i have been offered a brand new GMT Master 2 126711CHNR at retail. An amazing watch i have been impressed with for a long time. Not perfect timing but am worried that if i pass on this will it come round again in 6-12 months time.
Its a watch i really want to add to the collection so am thinking i will regret not going for it. How hard do you think these are to get hold of, am i likely to struggle in the near future if i don't buy now? |

Yeah is this the watch you were targeting or is this just the first hard-to-get watch that became available?
If the former, go get it now! |

What do you mean "not the perfect time fund wise"?
Like, you won't be able to pay your bills? Or, the wife wanted to use the play fund for some new shoes?

If you want the watch and can afford the watch you should buy the watch. It's not BLRO/LVc difficult to get hold of but it's also not an easy pick up. You also won't take a bath on it if you want to resell any time soon (unless they keep the warranty card )
If you don't buy it, in the current climate it may well count against you as far as the AD goes and they may be less likely to think about you when it comes time to allocate this and/or other desirable watches in future. Note I am not suggesting this as a reason why you should buy a watch you don't want or can't afford. Just a heads up.

I think you’ll be able to find it again but I do agree you should have a friend pick it up or just buy it together with someone to show you’re not flipping it. Re funding, I would say if you need to spend money on important matters like
A house purchase or repair them do that and explain to your rep but also indicated you would love for your friend to be able to get it instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Some of the questions being put forth on the forums are just getting more and more absurd. Asking a bunch of total strangers if one should purchase a watch that one is not in the best of financial positions at present time to acquire? Really? Come on, dude.

I wouldn't buy any luxury item when the funds are even remotely a question. Yes, you may not get it later or even ever...it will be OK

With regards to the financing part of my post i should have been clearer as it has caused some confusion.
I wont be out maxing a credit card on it - the purchase would not be in question if that was the case. Just had a few large bills in this month so it could have come at a more convenient time cash flow wise that's all. |

Get it now. John Mayer may mention soon and then you'll never be able to get one.

Temporary cash crunch + watch you really really want? Go for it. But if a stretch financially, I personally would never buy it.

I know I passed on a CHNR and I still regret it. Yes, I would have flipped it and the market wasn't amazing for it (it's better now), but here's the real issue, it's so damn pretty I would want to wear it and I know me -- I would have.
So, I would have had $27k in Rolex and wanting to wear both. I swear, I'd be the worst flipper, the watches are just too irresistible not to wear! My vote. If you can afford it, get it, and if you wear it just understand the PCL's are going to scratch like crazy. |

If the timing doesn't feel right for any reason, just be patient. It's just a watch at the end of the day.

My thoughts too. If this AD is decent, they will understand family priorities and will offer you one up again when the cash flow is better. The only wild card is valuation of the pound should Brexit get messy based on what I see in the news from across the pond. Another option might be to put it on layaway until you're ready in a few months. Good luck in your decision. Cheers!

I live in Bath. I will get my CHNR in around 3 years. You are lucky in London. If I were you I would take it.
