What do you guys think of this 1680
It’s got service dial, hands and bezel insert. The lugs look good to me but crown guards seem to be worn down too much. What are your thoughts? I can return with no issue but have 48 hours to do so.
The price was good considering not all original. |

Please post clear and precise pictures to start. The pics you posted are horrible.
Take the watch off, hold it in the palm of your hand and take some clear and close up pics.

Don’t know what you paid so hard to comment on that. What’s the serial? Originally a red or white?
Considering it’s all service it would make a great daily wear with no stress. I’d be happy to wear it. |

originally white, i believe, 1978 model...I would use it for daily wearer for sure. Alternate with my 90s speedmaster, 1971 Seiko speedtimer, and for my tough mudders and training, a couple of Seiko divers (modern)

Looks good to me. Definitely been polished as have most service dial 1680s, but the case is still thick enough. I agree the crown guards especially the upper one does look a little thin but not unusually so considering the overall condition of the watch.

Its a lovely piece if the price is right. The service dial would last for decades.

Any 1680 is going to be a 30 to 50 year old watch. How picky do you need to be for a nice, wearable, example.

I don't understand these "hand photos." Please set the watch down, without a distracting background, and photograph the subject matter. The hands are distracting and annoying.
The "hand/watch" photos do not depict the subject matter (the crown guards) well at all.

I agree with Springer on taking better photos. My impression was “What am I looking at here”. Thanks.

That looks like a good honest example of a single owner watch who a few years ago had it serviced and was advised to change dial, hands etc so it would function as it was supposed to. Case is a little soft, but it’s a 40 year old tool watch. At less than $10k I’d be proud to wear a fully functional daily classic.
