AP RO Rose Gold and Rolex Daytona White Dial.

I was offered these two watches from my AD that I have a relationship with, I asked if he had the Black Ceramic Daytona available and he said no but he offered me the white dial Instead. I was looking for the Black since the White is a unicorn and hard to get at retail. The only catch is that I have to purchase both watches at Retail price. What are your thoughts? Was looking to buy just one but it seems that I will just buy both.

Do you think that Daytona prices will ever come down?

you call it a relationship when you're forced into other PM? It's a transactional relationship in my books.

Sounds like you don't want the AP. In that case, might as well go grey for the Daytona.

So your rationale for wanting the black DaytonaC is because the white is a unicorn and hard to get? and you were later offered the white? Buy them both and sell the AP immediately, you’ll take a small loss but not as much premium as you would have to pay a Grey for a white DaytonaC.

Would you want an AP otherwise? If the answer is yes it's an obvious choice. If not, then you gotta think. It's financially worth it because your loss will be less than paying the grey pricing. So if you agree to pay that much for a Daytona, you gotta bite the bullet.

If you're buying the PM piece just to bundle and make the deal happen (i.e., will sell after for some kind of loss) you're better off trying to bundle with some kind of PM Rolex model vs. that particular AP RO chrono. It will be easier to move and potentially at less of a loss. That being said, I wouldn't do this bundle just as a means to get the white DaytonaC.

Seriously? That’s a hard pass.

Go buy the Daytona you want from a TS and you’ll still save ~$25k

All bundling does (to me) is feed the secondary market — unless you REALLY want both pieces - which (again, to me) is usually hardly the reality of the situation.

I agree, I'd go grey and wouldn't reward this AD with another sale and the hassle of trying to sell it, esp as its not even the blue one, even if you save a few bucks.

I just can't find an AP that speaks to me.. Maybe it is just me but just don't care for them... Would love a Daytona though

If you actually want the AP, try to negotiate a discount on it.

What’s the resale on the AP? How much of a loss, if at all, to flip it? If you buy both, flip the AP for more than you paid, then rock on! If you buy both, flip the AP, and lose a grand or two, is it worth it to you? How much are you willing to spend over retail for a white DaytonaC? My guess is your loss on the AP will be less than the difference between MSRP and grey pricing on the Daytona. A lot less.

I know some will flame me for this cuz you’re playing the AD/flipping/grey game. But if you can get the watch you want, look out for yourself rather than being a martyr.

Personally I would be taking that deal but flipping the Daytona and essentially getting a great deal on that PM AP!

I inquired about the AP as I really want the AP for a good while. The same AD is getting me the PP 5712R retail. I really do like the APRO. If it wasn’t really worth it I would just pass.

But you will reward a grey market dealer the inflated price of the watch? Makes no sense, I buy to establish relationships and get what I want.

For a bundle deal, the blue dial AP chrono seems like a good choice.

but your AD isnt rewarding you or doing you any favors here. theres essentially no relationship

but on the topic i dont like APs on leather straps so i would probably pass. would do it if it was on bracelet

I don’t mind paying retail if I get what I want. As a business man myself I don’t care if I get a discount or not as long as I pay what the watch is worth and not pay over retail.

yeah i get it, personally i have nothing against bundles like this as long as you get what you want. if i was in the market for an AP also i would do this as both parties win in the end. but yeah i wouldn't get one on a strap though

If the AP RO Chronograph was the stainless model, I do that deal any day.

I will do it if i were you, that AP with brown dial would be my choice, sadly my small wirst can’t handle it.

Not sure if you like the AP on leather or just buying to make the deal work, but there have been multiple reviews that prefer AP RO/ROC on bracelet - which is +/- $18-20K for the bracelet alone.

It's doable on leather + deployant, but likely not the best fit IMO, but YMMV!
