Fountain Pen & Heavy Hand.

Years ago in Catholic School when I learned cursive we had to use a fountain pen. Now many years later I write with a heavy hand - I crush felt tip pens - Flairs, fine tip Sharpies, etc.

Does this rule out fountain pens for me?

No, just learn and concentrate on using a light touch when you use the current choices in fountain pens!!!

+1 what Leo says.

I was just writing to someone about this very topic. When you use a fountain pen think of it as a feather. Write like you are using a feather to write with and you will have no problem. Of course, the problem will be accuracy. It will take some getting used to in order to write this lightly not only for anyone, but especially for you since you are used to writing with a heavy hand. I'm confident that after writing with a fountain pen you are going to really like it.

Make sure to avoid the "death grip". Using a FP means not using your fingers to form letters, but instead using your arm. The fingers should be stationary while the arm guides the pen across the paper. Of course the paper also makes a difference.

I thought this too, until I got one. I love them, so easy to write.
