Icon5 Advice: New Aqua Terra (Horizontal Lines/New Date Location)

I'm appealing to you folks here because you know a great deal more than I do regarding this.

I'm coveting the current Aqua Terra blue dial model (231.10.42.21.03.003) and the Skyfall caged date (which is impossible to get). I can't find anything preowned. I may have to go new here. If that is the case, do you gurus suggest I wait for the newer model to be released? The new horizontal design and the repositioning of the date to 6 o'clock do not work for me.

I'm thinking that the current model will drop in price once the new one releases. Is this typically the case?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Personally, don't agree with you about the caged date, but absolutely agree with you about the new horizontal deck design and re-positioning the date (wrongly) at 6 mark.

You may find quite a few other people also don't like what they have done to it in the 2017 iteration, so there's no guarantee that the pre-2017 version will be in less demand.

I'd get hold of one while you can. (Bias admission - I have one, although my preference is for 38.5mm and black dial).

They shouldn't have changed it.

I love my 41.5mm Grey 8500. If that is the one you want (size and dial optional), don't compromise.

The only thing that would make it better for me is some adjust-ability in the clasp.

Totally agree. The pre-2017 AT had reached a beautiful aesthetic.

I didn't think I'd like the new version but after seeing the new Golf AT, the deck orientation and date placement don't bother me at all.

So the price dropped on the new version. It's listed at $5,500 instead of $6,000. Hopefully, the 231.10.42.21.03.003 will drop too. Wish me luck.

Looks like the new one is $500 cheaper. It's not driving down the price of the model I am looking for. Lessons learned.

Regardless, I thank you all for your help!
