Absolutely killing it Kevin!!! a Raveneau and a Roulot... genuflecting in your general direction sir!! That said I cut my teeth on Italian Nebbiolo so your third bottle while not ideal for seafood is also lust worthy!!

There were a couple of dishes the barbaresco was perfect for including the Halibut and wagyu beef. Otherwise you are right. That said, my wife and our friend wanted a great red.

Nothing fancy here. Korbel Natural in their "club" bottle. Apparently, it glows in the dark and all sparkles like a knock offs Ace of Spades.

Thanks but I can not take any credit for the selections. A friend of ours who is a wine expert chose the line up based on his knowledge.

I just split the bill with him, but I am learning.

Good friend and he certainly knows his wines, top top producers all and great vintages.

No one is a born wine aficionado. We all learned from people and research along the way. I certainly wished I'd learned a few things earlier......

No premox issues with this one. The oak has softened and this is drinking beautifully now.

I know premox is a mixture of cork and chemistry but I do wish old world would start using screwcaps, eliminates so many problems.

I love 09 whites from burgundy. Raveneau MdT 09 is one of my favourite wines ever.

Although 09 vintage in Barolo was hot and generally regarded as average, I think Rinaldi did a really good job with what he had and this was a beautiful example of what a good Barolo can be like. It was still a bit closed and probably needs another couple of years to open up.

Pretty much agree with your vintage assessment and have always been pleasantly surprised by certain producers talents in off vintages, glad to hear Rinaldi is among them.
