It's basically down to where the mass of the engine is located in the car. Mid-engine is optimum for a sports car when you have plenty of grip, as it gives the car a low polar moment of inertia. In English, this means the car will turn-in to corners with much more alacrity, making it more agile than a front-engine or rear-engine in bends.

The corollary is that when grip runs out, the mid-engine layout makes the car much easier to spin, and "snap oversteer" is often the result.

With these cars, you'd really have to be going crazy to lose grip on a dry road, but 70 mph is enough to provoke a spin in the wet if the water is deep enough (I know this from personal experience!).

That said, it's a fantastic car in most conditions, and I'm sure you will love it.

Great looking car and black is a good choice. I still have one 911 left, an air cooled turbo, but got into Tesla's performance, dual motor supercars for 0-60 under three seconds.

Great car! It's amazing how bad ass the new Boxsters look! Would go great with a black ceramic Daytona, btw.

Sorry about that, I got off on a tangent there. I love Porsches, had many of them - first was in 1990 with a 911 coupe, then an RS America, air cooled twin turbo and more. My current 911 Turbo is triple black and as I said I think you made a great color choice - love the images you posted of your new car. I know the feeling of waiting for a Porsche to come in - so enjoy that part, too!!!

I waited about 3 1/2 months for my 2017 Turbo S. It was a long wait! I love the looks of your car, it is really bada**! If you're anyone like me, you will spend hours just staring at it in the garage after everyone's gone to sleep.

VEry Nice! also waiting for the pics..

I test drove a Boxster S and then a 911 Cab, and I hate to say the Boxster S felt more stable over freeway undulations.

However, I did try a 911 S coupe with the Sport Suspension, and it rectified all my issues...
